So we have like...this bad ominous thing...It'll like grow gradually through a mildly suspenseful beginning mid-section whilst Harry and co. have some personal tribulations...then everyone is shocked at the climax and everyone bands back together, breaks rules, saves the day and are inevitably rewarding for risking there own lives and those of others around them to the praise of everybody, neatly fitting into one year of magical high schooling.
Genius.

Yeah, I always thought so. I really, really don't like Harry Potter. I tried reading the books and got so bored of them so tried watching the movies and got bored of those too, it really wasn't anything I hadn't seen before and the main character got on my nerves, not a good start.

I prefered the Simpsons version, of Harry Ploper ;]

Personally, I did like the Harry Potter series - the first three books and movies. Then everything became rather pale - quality of books tend to decrease like that over spans of many sequels.
Now, Harry Potter is overrated >_> I sort-of wish everyone would get over it soon.

Be warned this is a serious anti-Harry potter rant,
Finally some other people who don’t Harry Potter is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I personally hate and despise the series, the books, the characters and the movies. Ah yes I remember quite clearly when the first three books came out, I was in primary school, being young, immature, naive and stupid I followed the craze and because I had not read really anything as long as those books I of course followed suit of everyone else claiming it was the best thing I ever read… Now lets fast forward to now. I have grown up quite a bit and am now attending university. My taste in books has grown (I mostly read sci-fi stuff) and I have read a broad range of books and I must say that every single Harry Potter book doesn’t even hold a candle to some of the amazing works I’ve read, for example War Of The Worlds, this book is like 99% shorter than all 7 books of Harry Potter and I must say it is 100% better in every single possible way. Now I’m a writer myself who has been inspired by such great authors as H.G.Wells and Arthur.C.Clarke and I have to say that yes the imagination gone into the Harry potter series is suburb now if only it could have come out as so on paper. Characterization in the Harry Potter books is seriously lacking and so is the flow. Dare I say it? Yes I must...there are just 7 books of extremely boring teenage angst thrown around a magical background. My last thought is how can these books which to me a child could have written earn so much money and fame when superb masterpieces that are a credit to the very nature of story-telling are left to sit on the shelves and gather dust.

Over-rated? Maybe heh, I only read the first book and did not really keep on reading, it was not particularly my cup of tea but it was a nice book I thought. What I do credit the book for is coming to fame on its own rather than some books, and other media that come to fame just because they come from Disney or things like that. Harry Potter is not for me in particular. I do see that it is overhyped but I have not read them a lot to say that they are not that good. Reading some of your posts though I guess it is not all that great heh.
