As she watched Sean and Mike talk, there was a hint of doubt that they might come back. However when Sean was about to leave Veronica proceeded to try and stop him. She rushed down the steps after him, waiting a few steps from the floor. "Sean this is crazy please just come back to the roof. Please." She said, not sure of what she was actually feeling about this situation. Was she scared for him or was she scared of not having him as leader? She could choose between what she wanted to do more, go back to the roof and pretend nothing happened or try and keep Sean from leaving. A bad feeling was settled in her stomach as she thought of how much guilt she would have if she just let Sean go out and possibly get killed. She wouldn't be able to live with herself if that happened.

Sean paused, knowing that Veronica wouldn't let him pass her with ease. "I'll be fine Veronica." He said, trying to move past her but noticing that she was still standing where she had before. Sean bit his bottom lip before suddenly putting his arms around her and lifting her up off the ground with ease, placing her down gently to the side. "Veronica, I promise I'll be fine and I'll come back." He said and looked back at his partner Mike, knowing that he must be thinking about it too. The thought of possibly not coming back from their journey to find survivors made Sean feel a little unsteady. He needed someone he trusted a hundred percent to stay behind. After a moment of silence, he finally sighed.
"Mike, stay here." He said before taking a few steps forward, Mike grabbing his arm and pulling him to a stop.
"Aye man, I'm not letting you go out there alone."
"Yes you are, Mike I need someone who I trust to stay back and just watch out for the group. You've gotta do this for me." Sean insisted, turning to look at him. A few more moments of silence arose before Mike sighed inwardly, "Ight man, but if you need anything you give me a holla ight?" With that Sean nodded and briskly walked out of the front door, leaving Mike still standing with Veronica.

She sighed, about to try and argue just as Sean was leaving. "No wait!" She said, reaching out to try and go after him but she knew it was too late. She looked up at Mike and sighed, turning without saying anything and running back up the stairs and onto the roof. Veronica rushed over to the wall and looked down, spotting Sean she prayed quietly that he'd be okay. Veronica took a deep breath, running her fingers through her hair before propping her head up on her fists. All the sudden a voice from behind caught Veronica's attention.
"Worried for your man?" Katie smirked, rubbing a pistol down with a cloth.
Veronica made no attempt to turn around. She knew a rattlesnake's voice when she heard it. "I am worried, yes, but he's not my man."
"Yeah right! You've got it bad for the poor boy! He can't do anything or say anything without you right there to either comment or try and but in on everything!" Katie snapped. "We all saw how you were hugging and holding onto him when we were on our way here and we see the way you look at him. Total flirt."
Veronica whirled around, "Shut your mouth!" She growled, her cheek bones turning a flush of red. Katie smiled, "Come. Make. Me." She challenged, Veronica ignoring her and looking back down at Sean. Watching intently. All of the sudden she saw a zombie behind Sean that she guess he didn't see, "Sean!" She screamed, waving her arms. "Sean!" She screamed again. "Behind you!" Her voice straining caused her voice to squeak. "Behind you!"

Sean walked forward, keeping the gun in his arms with his finger on the trigger. This would be simple but he'd have to stay alert for the whole time. All the while though, in his mind, Sean couldn't help but think of how many of his friends that had been killed. When this is done, I'm going back to the house to see if I can find anything to ease my pain. He thought, looking around the stiff buildings. Suddenly screams behind him caught his attention, quickly turning around. Sean looked at Veronica, understanding what she was saying the first time she had said it. Sean whirled, gently squeezing the trigger. 4 bullets all shot out at once at the limping zombie, who had obviously been injured before, and sent him crashing to the ground. Sean took a deep breath and looked over at Veronica, a slight tinge of relief shot through him then reality became all too real. This world was gone. Everything and everyone Sean ever let really close was gone. The people he now thought of his 'posse' were just as vunerable to the diesease as he was. They were just as likely to get attacked or even killed by a zombie, as he was. Deep down in his stomach Sean felt something, something as if there were a missing spot inside of him. As if he hadn't only lost his wife, who he had known since he was 15, but someone else too. With just as much importance in his life. He needed to get this done and over with already, to get back on the roof and try to relax. Everything was unclear to him and it caused him to hear his heartbeat in his head and ears. He was having a bad headache.

She put a hand over her heart and sighed happily, watching still as Sean kept walking. He was a fearless leader, almost like the kind that didn't seem real. Almost like the kind that she had never known. She let out a deep breath she didn't even know she had, getting to her feet and walking to Jayce.
"Jayce, did you want some water honey?"
"No thanks momma."
"Are you sure? I'll get you one anyway." Veronica said, walking over to the cooler and grabbing a single water. The ice and the cold water bit at her fingers, stiffining her fingers. The mother walked back over to her son and tried to ask him over and over again if he would drink just a little bit. Katie grunted and tucked her gun away, "Shut up and leave the poor child alone dag-on woman!" She exclaimed standing up. In that instant Veronica shot her a venimous look at Katie. Pretty soon they were screaming at each other, and one thing led to another, and pretty soon they were brawling on the ground. Katie quickly over powered Veronica, being stronger and better trained. Even though they were pretty well matched.

Dimitrios heard rumbles on the roof top as he walked up the steps, thinking it was just the others walking around. What he saw was the two burnettes fighting on the pea gravel, what a sight. D rushed over and grabbed Katie by the forearms, trying not to hurt her but still trying to restrain her. "Stop!" He said, pulling the two cats apart. He stood between them, blocking Veronica from getting to Katie and blocking Katie from getting to Veronica. Meanwhile Sean was still walking through the buildings, calling to anyone who might have been out listening. After he got no response he hurried up and walked back to the mall, slipping through the door and closing it. He put the steel bars against the windows just incase those zombies got any funny ideas. He jogged up the steps, coming to the roof to find his best friend shielding one girl from the other. He didn't even bother to ask. By the way their hair was ajar and thre was a disturbed area on the gravel he could tell that they had been fighting. Sean could do nothing but shake his head and place the gun down, walking to the edge of the mall roof and relaxing.

When Dimitrios pulled her away she attempted to get back to Katie, only to get blocked by the taller being. Jayce looked between Katie and his mother, trying not to focus to much on their razzled hair. Veronica stormed off in one direction, smoothing her hair down the whole while. She walked over and sat slowly down next to Sean. Although she had sat next to the big guy she didn't talk to him, odd behavior for the down to earth mother. She slowly ran her slender fingers through her thick curls, looking over at Sean. "Sean. If you don't mind me asking what's your whole name?" She said, pulling her knees up to her chest and drawing in a deep breath. Katie meanwhile was on the other side of the roof mumbling the whole time as she picked up a gun and checked to see how much amo she had. Veronica decided that tonight wouldn't be the best time to go to sleep, not after a fresh fight. Especialy not one with the maniac known as Katie Palmer.

Sean didn't pay much attention to her at first, seeing it to be rude if he didn't answer her though Sean looked over. "Sean Dominique Vetter." He said, directing his attention back down to the pea gravel as he shifted weight. Sean's brown eyes traced his pant legs and shoes, almost as if studying them to see if something was missing from the well made denim. Sean liked jeans loose at the bottom but fit him at the top, and if they didn't he'd wear a belt, which wasn't very uncommon since Sean's jeans always fit. He wasn't the one to sag, he thought it was improper to have your pants down by your knees or under your butt. Drawing in a deep breath Sean caught a wiff of something sweet and fresh, could it be Veronica? Or maybe it was the bookbag he was now jerking back out of the vents and digging through.

She nodded, thinking his name was cute all around. "Veronica Faith Gibbons." She said simply. Veronica pulled her knees closer to her chest and watched him, "So Sean if you don't mind, tell me a bit about yourself." She said, noticing the sun setting off to the west and the city remaining dark. Everything was all so unreal. Usually the city would be flodded with lights and cars and people but now, it was just filled with barren and broken buildings with zombies running around. As if having nothing else to do, Katie stood up and walked past Veronica, kicking pebbles on her. Temper broiling Veronica just ignored her, trying desperately to keep her cool in front of Sean so he wouldn't see an ugly side of her. Katie smirked, she knew Veronica's game and decided to play too. Katie turned sweetly and sat down on the wall of the mall roof.
"Yeah Sean, tell us about yourself." She said with a smile. Veronica shot her an icy look, getting smirked at in return. Veronica and Katie looked up at Sean like two puppies waiting for direction.

Sean took in a deep breath, actually surprised that they even cared that much to ask. He looked over his shoulder at the two beautiful burnettes and shrugged. "Well, life for me was pretty much that of a normal kid. I met Stacey when I was 15. We dated for a few years before we got engaged at 17 and I finally married her when we were 18. At the time I was actually in a gang but it didn't take me long to leave there. I met Dimitrios when I was there though and we've been boys ever since. From when I was 20 to 28 I was racing, buying, and fixing cars. I actually went to jail after they caught me for handling some nitro for the cars and stuff I can't really talk about right now. After I got out I stopped doing that but I still was racing and doing runs for my people. When I finally left there I began working for the DEA when I was 28. Nothing much happened when I was 29 but when I was 30 when Stacey had gotten killed by some angry men coming to kill me. I was shot here." He paused, pulling up his shirt on the corner to reveal a small scar there. Nothing major. "Uh, a couple days later zombie invasion and you know the rest from there obviously." He said and stretched somewhat. He didn't feel that there was much anybody didn't know about him now and it made him feel a little different, he'd usually never tell anyone about his past.

She and Katie listened intently to his story, as if greatly interested which of course they both were. Katie though put on a more of a connection type demeanor, "The DEA? I'm a DEA agent too. But not here, in Las Vegas actually." She said and perked up. Veronica looked away from her, trying to restrain herself from telling Katie off. Their faces flushed a dark red color as Sean lifted a corner of his shirt up. Veronica didn't know what she could possibly do. Already Katie was connecting with Sean and Veronica actually had a hint of, could it be, jealousy. Veronica looked amongst them quickly. "I was in the DEA too and I had a 69 Cobra that I pimped out and raced like once." She said simply, folding her arms with a smile on her face. Katie glared at her.
"I had more than a 69 Cobra. I had Chevelles, Cobras, Mustangs, Camaros, almost everything since I had a hook up with a local in town. Sean you should remember because I think I sold one of my cars to you. Don't you remember? It was a dark blue 1969 Chevelle with two white racing stripes, 369 engine, Nitro already installed by the shifts, other than tht though the body was all original." Katie said, looking at Veronica as if to say, Ha beat that. I've got history with him.

Sean noticed the tension growing between the girls and it made him a little sick. How could they be both competing for one guy? Dimitrios was single and good looking too but for some reason they just didn't want him. Sean looked back and forth at them. Katie catching his interest the most though, mainly because of the history they shared. Her words sparked up an instant memory. The dark roads, the racing, the crowd awaiting him at the finish line, the last desperate moment that he cheated to win... "Yeah I remember, I paid you 15 grand for that car." He said and rubbed the back of his head, his buddy Dimitrios stalking out the streets below by himself. Sean sat back down, setting his jaw to keep from yawning in front of everyone. The sun was almost fully down and he was tired. "Ladies, if you don't mind, I'm gonna just go." He said as soon as he noticed the look Katie gave Veronica. That look was a red flag to Sean, signaling that he needed to leave and that he needed to do it quick. He walked past them, passing Jayce and heading towards Dimitrios. He sat down next to his partner.
"Sean, whats wrong man?"
"Nothing."
"It's not nothing Sean. I know your upset about Stacey but it looks deeper than that man."
Sean sniffled slightly, the thought of what actually was wrong mad him terribly upset. His bottom lip quivered slightly, "She uh.." His voice cracked. "She was 4 months pregnant when she died." He said, choking back tears. Dimitrios froze, feeling sudden grief his head dropped. Standing up and hugging him. "I'm sorry man. I'm here for you dawg, I always am. You know if you need to talk about anything bro you talk to me ight?" Dimitrios said, Sean wiping the tears out of his eyes before they rolled down his cheeks.

Katie smiled and nodded but as Sean walked away it was obvious something was wrong. Veronica and Katie looked at each other with concern, standing up slowly and walking over to the obviously upset Sean. Katie quickly dropped to one knee, "Are you okay Sean?" She asked, noticing his eyes were red. An obvious sign that he was worked up. She wrapped her arms around his neck, giving him a hug as Veronica hugged him on the other side.
"I'm sorry Sean."
"I hate to see you upset Sean. Do you wanna talk about it?" Katie offered, getting pinched by Veronica. Katie slipped her a glare before looking up at Sean. "If there's anything I can do, just tell me please." She said, Veronica agreeing with her. Katie looked up into Sean's eyes, Veronica glaring at her still. Veronica looked up at Sean as well, trying to show that she care just as much as Katie did, if not more. Katie let her arms slip down until her hands were on his chest, placing her head down gently to look out across the buildings.

Sean didn't like the girls hanging all over him but he was just in too much despare to adresss anything just yet. Sean could say nothing or do nothing. All he did was look down at Katie, putting an arm around her. Katie was what Sean wanted in a girl; Not afraid to get some grease on her hands, a hard worker, 20% angel and 80% devil, and overrall not a punk. Sean stretched out before standing up finally, walking over to an empty spot and laying down on the pea gravel. He lay on his back and look up at the stars that he hadn't noticed before any other night before this apocolypse. Sean took a deep breath, grabbing a cancer stick and lighting it before slipping it in his mouth and breathing in an out the smoke. He just needed some time to think and he couldn't think unless he was with his cars, smoking, or in a quiet room. Although if put in a desperate situations, he was able to make quick and smart decisions.

She smiled as Sean put his arm aorund her. But as he went and found a place to go lay down Veronica pulled Katie off to the side. Obvious jealous written all over her face. "I know what your doing Katie stop it." Veronica said, trying to keep her voice low enough so that nobody else would hear. "Stop what? Having a greater femanine charm than you? Sorry I can't." She said smartly, smiling as though she was proud that Veronica was jealous.
"No. That's not what I mean. It's wrong to play with his heart like that Katie." Veronica said firmly, putting her hands on his hips. Katie rolled her eyes and shifted her weight onto one hip, "How would you know if I'm playing or not? Maybe I might be sincere about it. 'Ever thought about that?" She said before turning away. Just as she did turn though Veronica placed her small hand gently on her shoulder, stopping Katie. "Katie please. Don't hurt him any worse than what he has already been hurt." Veronica said before walking over to Jayce and sitting down, scooping him up gently and letting him rest in her arms. Katie looked down and sighed, Veronica was wrong. Katie shook her head and walked over to Dimitrios, "Hey Dimitrios, can I talk to you downstairs for a minute?" She asked, flipping her hair out of her face.
