The submissions just keeeeeep on coming. And the sparkly submissions just keep on getting weirder and weirder. And I don't buy into this "sparkle dogs were allowed because Dixie and Star are oddly colored" nonsense. I think that's just a convenient excuse. And even if that WERE the legitimate reason, I think we can all agree that the results of what was surely presumed to be an innocent enough decision (IF that were the reason) has become a case of "pulling the cork from the bottle and allowing the genie to escape". Yeah...that's not a good thing, in case you were wondering. I suppose this sparkle dog is particularly mild, compared to some of the brain short-circuiting insanity being increasingly posted these last many months. But it seems to have at least two of the inexplicable accessories that are so out of place on a freaking DOG/WOLF, and ever so-often included on sparkle freaks. I mean, hey, let's make sure and include those leg warmers and glo sticks, 'kay? Hm? 'Kay? "TOOO-TALLY! Liek, O-M-G!"(The person who submitted this to Balto Source claims she made it using one of those idiotic "maker" websites. "Doll Divine" in this case, apparently. After a quick look, as the member actually provided a link back to it, I have been fighting the urge to retch all over the place. ) (I made an imageshack file out of this so no one could look at the URL and follow it back to the source. Golly, why I should want to protect a member who submits these freakish things is beyond me...but I do want my post to remain unaltered by the "powers what is"...) This... THIS is the price of allowing a bunch of preteen and young teenaged kids (girls especially, it seems) to run roughshod over what we all always presumed was a site for fans of animated movies...NOT a deviantArt alternative. Why are we not taking a stronger and more united stance on this?

Agreed, Dixie and Star are not an excuse, they may have had been a purplish color, but they didn't have glowing eyes, piercings, leg warmers, etc.
This needs to stop, it really does.

This needs to stop, it really does. Or day-glow streaked/spotted/striped fur for that matter. Or wings. Or vampire fangs. Or extra limbs. Or horns. Etc. Etc. Ad freakin' nauseum. EDIT: Like I said...the cork's been popped, and the freaking genie has escaped and is wreaking chaos. Man, it makes me wish I kept up my conversational and written skills at French. Sounds like greener pastures over yonder...

Honestly I would be perfectly fine with that character if it was on DA and not here. The fact of the matter is, there are things (I decline to call what I've seen characters) that are even worse than that! Heck, at least that one looks like a dog, save for the leg warmers, eyes and glowstick necklace thing. I've seen demonic beast type things, and that just befuddles me.

Oh yes, there certainly are things a thousand times worse than this one. But what bothers me about this, beyond the things I already stated about it, is that the member who submitted this didn't even DRAW it...and probably didn't even color it. She just took it from an online game on that website, and plugged in certain things. The wolf itself is a stock drawing.

I think that those characters created by an online game should NOT be allowed to be posted here as a character. It's pure laziness. It takes no effort what-so-ever to press buttons and say "look at what i made!!!!" No, you didn't make it, you just pressed buttons, so you CAN'T take credit for someone else's work.
What I don't understand is why on earth does EVERYBODY think that they need to make characters these days. I can't help but notice, at least here on AS, that everyone is making characters. I can understand the those whom write stories n' such, but KIDS have no business creating these characters (at least posting them anyway), they're all awful.

I can understand the those whom write stories n' such, but KIDS have no business creating these characters, they're all awful. Simple: imitation. They see some people doing it, so they really want to be involved, to participate, and be juuuuuust like everyone else (and I suppose they want and need the attention it gets). In theory, I don't have a problem with that. But at LEAST they could create their own stuff, and put some honest, real effort into it. And it would need to be obvious that it is the work of their OWN HANDS. Not a tracing, not a blank line art they just colored in and named (and created a lousy, half-finished profile for it if is a "fan character"), or a badly-recolored render, OR some ridiculous online game on a "let's play dress up" site for kids and preteens who got tired of playing with their Barbie dolls.

I just stumbled across a profile that appears to have nothing but non-Balto related characters (three total Balto related). 18 total, that's pathetic!

Nice to see I'm not the only one incredibly frustrated with this matter. I have a few characters on The Lion King Source and they're all connected to a book I wrote a few years back and said book takes place in The Lion King universe - after the films, of course - but the canon characters are involved to a great extent along with my own creations.
And, on a different note, to those of us who actually have a problem with this out-control-character issue, I have to wonder if there is a way to put this to Steet in a full-blow way. Now, I'm not sure how, but, really, there's gotta be something. Should this chaos continue? Two words: Absolutely not. The members on all of the Sources - those who are actually mature - at least in the head (Hope no one was offended by that. My bad.) we gotta take some sort of stand. This is only gonna get worse as time goes.
Does Steet even care? The answer is: No, he doesn't and he hasn't for a long time. He bent to the will of the young members who were busy complaining about unfairness and removed the old staff - who, I might add, did their jobs quite well.
Frankly, all of the Sources - save Tail Spin - need a webmaster that believes in the term 'Fan character' and keeps to the term fully and completely and doesn't bend to the will of immature members - which, you have to admit the sites are flooding with them. I know it's a long shot, but I've been wanting to say that for quite a while now.
Besides how can the mods (me being one of them, but I think you all know that) do our jobs and not have our eyes go shut at the sight of character profiles and nearly everything else pretaining to them being abused like this?
For me, my, guess you could say conscience, not just in general - but speaking as a person with autism (Yes, I'm bringing that into this) I believe in order, routine and things being the way they should be. Not seeing that on the Sources - all of them - is downright disappointing.
