"Really now? Guy like me? Guess i am pretty awesome, aren't i?" Gilbert mused with a cocky grin still on his face.

Alice grinned and was about to say somthing, but a loud shattering sound interrupted her, and made her jump.

"What was that?" Rodney asked, they where the only ones who seemed to notice... or care...

"I dunno, it came from down the hall..." Dean said.

"Let's go check it out!" Alice urged excitedly, she might have been a flirt, but she loved adventure.

Dean and Rodney just shrugged and started to walk. "C'mon Gil!" Alice smiled grabbing his hand and pulling him after her.

Gilbert grunted and followed Alice closely, allowing himself to brush against her slightly every so often.

They pushed through the crowd until they reached, the deserted and dark hallway. The shattering sound came again as they approached one of the doors, then their was a soft snuffling sound.

"What the h*ll?" Rodney asked.

"Is someone in there... like... wasted?" Alice asked still holding Gil's hand.

"That's not what you sound like when you're wasted..." Dean said. He grabbed the handle and forced his way into the room, stopping dead in his tracks at when he found. Standing before them, with a book in it's hands, was a... shadow... it turned to look at them with bright red eyes. It hissed loudly, revealing dozens of white teeth. Alice yelped clung to Gilbert, while Rodney screamed and tried to grab Dean, only to get shoved against the wall. The creature hissed, dropped it's book, turned to mist and vanished out the broken window.

Gilbert knew what being wasted felt like and sounded like, so immediantly he knew it wasn't..human. He was the only one who didn't flinch, he just watched the thing disappear with a cocked head and a serious expression. He walked into the room curiously, looking around where it was and knelt down, seeing where it was looked like it'd been charred.

Rodney hurried over to the window and looked out, stepping on broken glass. "What was that?" he asked.

Dean recalled it had at first held something in it's hands, he looked around and found the book a few feet behind Rodney. He walked over and picked it up. It had charred marks, in the shape of hands burned into the tough leather binding. He opened it and a small cream envelope fell out. Dean pick it up "Hey guys, look!" he said starting to open the envelope.

Gilbert looked up and walked over, his arm lay lazily over Alice's shoulders and she clutched his chest.
"What is it?" He asked, ignoring the clingy blonde.

Dean slowly unfolded the little note that was in the envelope and held it so his freinds could all see.

If you are reading this it means those monsters got the better of me, and now, the book has chosen you to finish my work. You have found the most valuble book in history, and it has chosen you to help save man kind from those unholy b*stards that not even H*ll wanted as inhabitants. This Beastiary will tell you off all the monstrosities you will face, they all want my book destroyed... but you can protect it.

"Hah. That's awesome, but do you seriously believe it?" Gilbert scoffed, pulling Alice tighter against him, just for fun.

"Dude, we just saw a freaky demon shadow, try to get rid of this book. It's gotta be true." Dean said, allowing Rodney the take the book and flip through it's pages.

Alice held onto Gil tighter while she listened to Dean.

Gil shrugged and groaned, looking out the door.
"I need a beer.." He grumbled, exiting the room before returning with his drink.

Alice finally smiled, "We gotta do it! What the note says... We need to go find these monsters!"

"Great Idea! Let's get a van and a talking bloodhound, while we're at it!! Ruh Ro!" Dean huffed rolling his eyes.

Alice glared at him. "But we'd be the perfect team, We have a hero." she grinned looking at Gil then continuing, "A nerd..." she pointed at Rodney, "The beauty..." she smiled flipping her hair "and the other guy..." she smirked in Dean's face.

"Ahhh naw man Dean's the artist..guy!" Gilbert said, slinging an arm over Dean's shoulders playfully.

"Alright then, The hero, the nerd, the beauty, and the artist!" Alice grinned. Dean just rolled his eyes.

"Got..a question." Gilbert said. "Why am I the hero? I think Deeean should be the hero." He pointed out, "Since he read the book."
