Jeraha snarled. "You were playing with her." he said. "How many times do I have to tell you that play is for wimps!" the lion's voice was getting louder and deeper.

"Nice? Shrew dung!" Jeraha spat at Alonzo. "She was a Pridelander. And you know what Pridelanders are, don't you? They steal your loved ones from you. Your mother was born in the Pridelands and look at what she did to you."

Jeraha's ears twitched with amusement to see the two lionesses arguing. "Come into my den, son." he said, forcing kindness into his voice. "We have a lot to talk about."

"Alonzo." Jeraha said. "I know what its like to be around lionesses. All they do is just woo you and then leave you. They can never be trusted."

"Yes." Jeraha said. "Now you know why I didn't want you to see that lioness. She would only break your heart. I don't want to see my son's heart broken."

Jeraha put his paw around Alonzo. "I know you won't son." he said. "Only I can protect your fragile little heart from being broken."

Jeraha raised his eyebrows at the young cub. "If you want, we can start right now, but I'm sure you're very tired."
