Okay, I have to go with Tramp. Well, I dunno, Balto's personality was just...Quite bland. You can't really remember him all that much unless you think twice. While Tramp... Even his name just screams "trouble" xD Yea, and I really have to agree on Balto being too flawless. Alone, hated by whole town, then suddenly saves the day and gets the girl...Meh, usual background for heros xD While Tramp...He was far from perfect: a player, with careless attitude, kinda aggressive at some point...But still loved xD So yeah, I personally think Tramp has got much more into him than Balto. Though I gotta admit that in sequels they both were pretty much the same: loving, calm fathers of their children. But still, at least the first Tramp was way more awesome...xD

This is sort of a useless topic, at least in my opinion...
Why? okay "The Lady and the Tramp" Was made 40 or so years ago, Balto however was not, and I'm sure that Universal Didn't copy Disney, or even thought of it.. Yes they may be similar in story, both being outcasts and what not, but you have to understand and realise that most Animation companies do the whole "Outcast" Thing, To make the story and/or character more relatable, to the audiance, they want you to feel as though you can sympathise with the character thus making the story more believeable and the character more likeable.. do you see what I'm getting at?
Neither of them look similar, sorry.. Tramp looks like a mutt, and his design is quite simplistic in comparison to balto's. Balto looks like he had more Time and effort put in, and of course you gotta also think that the age bracket comes into play. Back then, Stuff was simplistic cus they did it the hard way.
I personally like BOTH, though Naturally I sorta like tramp more, only because when growing up "The Lady and the Tramp" Was one of my favourite films. And about the whole, Tramp goes from one girl to the next and not being "Faithful" .. Um.. He changed his ways when he met lady, did he not? So your argument there is sorta invalid. Just saying..
Theres really nothing to argue here anyways, as they are two totally different characters, from two totally different era's, and two totally different Animation companys.
Also I'll agree with what someone else said earlier, Balto's Personality was quite bland in comparison to Tramp's. Tramp was a tad more enjoyable to watch on screen than balto.
Tramp in the film has been and always will be my favourite character, as a matter of fact he's one of my top 5 Favourite Disney characters of all time (Shere Khan Being first of course)
Balto however in the film was NOT my favourite, as a matter of fact Kaltage was/is. Cus he actually had Character, or more of it anyway. I don't know, don't bash me for saying these things , but apparently I'm not the only one who thinks this...

It doesn't seem useless, it argues a pretty good point.

I'm not arguing I'm just telling him/her this is not like a info topic or anything like it, it's more of a topic of comparing or contrasting between Balto and Tramp. That is what I'm trying to say.

For some reason it won't let me "quote" People, but I'm sure said person will know to whom I am addressing here!
I am fully aware of that, hense My Comment... I was saying that there isn't anything to compare. They are completely different, Both in personality and Design, which is why I stated that in my opinion this topic is sorta .. well useless.
The only thing that they had in common is that they were outcasts, but even their "Outcastness" Was different.
Tramp was praised and loved by all the dogs in the neighborhood, balto was loved by no-one except, Boris and Rosie/Jenna.
The main argument I see the author of this topic trying to point out is the fact that they LOOK Similar in design and/or appearance, sorta like trying to say that perhaps "Universal" copied "Disney" in a way, which is why I said; and it pretty apparent where I'm coming from; They look NOTHING alike.. at least in my eyes they don't. I see no reason to believe that Universal based some of his (Balto's) appearance off of tramp. Comparing Tramp and Balto is like comparing a Dobermen to a poodle.
and by the way I'm a "She", Thankyou!
And also, Thankyou Roi, I see that you actually Read "All" of my comment!

Well, I personally find character getting a life through trouble more interesting to watch than character who gets it's life through heroism. Because there are already too many "heroistic" characters out there, unlike the ones who get their life through trouble and STILL are protagonists. I actually have to agree with this, but, well, let's see this as a topic in which it's author just picks two completely different in personality characters from two well-known movies and asks people which one do they think is better xD

@ Dunkin: Quite welcome. Lol, I like to read a whole post if I'm going to talk about it. - GoddessOfTheWolves wrote: ChingChongChi-Neez wrote: But Tramp gets a life through trouble instead heroism. Well... the reason that Tramp became popular in the end with the humans was because he saved Jr. That's heroism if I'm not mistaken. Not to change sides here, I still like Tramp more, but I don't see why we have to keep putting Balto down. I'm tempted to lock it for there's not much really to discuss if we're just comparing which is better. And I won't have a million 'vs' topics.
