All of the above. Having something to believe in especially; look at George Washington. He was a man of great faith, and lived through having several holes shot right through his coat and two or more horses shot out from under him in a single battle. Miraculous? I think so. But even the fact that he believed in what he was fighting for would provide an undeniable edge on the battlefield as well as in long hardships like Valley Forge. I believe the same reasoning applies to Balto's case.

All of the above is the obvious answer to this question. Why? Let's take a look at each choice.

Strength and Determination - When Balto goes to look for the team, he's basically by himself almost the entire way and to add to that, he has to push through the wind, snow, and cold to find them! All those factors combined would have been enough to kill him! Then when he does find them, he has to deal with Steele, which leads to Steele continuously tossing him aside, severely injuring and almost killing him! Yet even with him being in extreme pain and close to death from the looks of it, he still is able to get up and refuses to leave. Then when the team does have the medicine, they face various obstacles and hazards that threaten to take them all out! Strength and determination are really what got them through all of that. (As well as intelligence, but we're about to get there.)

Intelligence - Making quick decisions and the right moves are crucial elements to having the best outcome to something. For instance, if Balto hadn't spotted that cave when he did when the team was running from the avalanche, they would have been packed under the snow and compressed to death! Then there's the part where the team stops and all the trees around them have Steele's claw marks. This is where Balto's natural instinct kinks in and he instead uses his sense of smell to pick up the trail.

Aniu - Aniu was the whole reason the run to bring the medicine back even started! If she hadn't shown up, Balto wouldn't have embraced his wolf heritage and he wouldn't have climbed back up the cliff with the medicine! He would have either remained there disappointed with himself and froze to death or leave and never come back! (Plus, him climbing the cliff just adds more to strength and determination)

Jenna and Rosie - Rosie was the only reason he left to find the team in the first place! Plus, she's the only one he's thinking about while he's out looking for the team and that's basically the only thing that's giving him the will and the determination to continue. And Jenna was the one that saved him from the bear attack. If she didn't show up when she did, he would have been crushed to death!

Well he is half wolf and wolves have been adapted to surviving struggles
