Dragon Tamer that is a really good way of putting it. that's a good reason to keep this Balto Web alive, and safely have younger kids see it.

There is nothing, DT...nothing at ALL like standing on Anvil Mountain, and looking down at the valley, the town of Nome on the shore, and the Norton Sound and Bering Sea beyond. Or, turning around, and observing the utterly breathtaking Kigluaik Mountains off to the east and southeast. Nothing. To be where they were, and especially to see many of the same vistas they saw (the changes in the town and immediate region where the gold camps are aside) is beyond compare! And I speak from first-hand experience in that...

I would probably do the same too.

Heck, I could think of at least a hundred places, given enough time, that I'd like to go, but right now it's a struggle to make a mere 8-hour drive to see my brothers next weekend.

Anyway, yeah, the real part i want to do is tell kids about the real Balto of 1925's serum run,(watching the movie is great but i want to tell others more), 'cause Balto is very understudied in school and no one ever knows about Togo!Koak wrote: It kind of Does live up to its Potential on Balto.. You planning on having kids within the next year or two, DT? ROFL Otherwise, I don't think you need to worry about the economy in the long run. It will eventually start to rebound. Well, as important as the 1925 Nome serum run (and the second run which almost no one knows about, but which was mentioned in the book The Race To Nome by Ken Ungermann...although very little is known about it historically), it was a small event in American history, long before Alaska was even a formal part of the United States (though it was under the jurisdiction of the Federal government at that time, and had a very American system of government). In of itself, it wasn't much. Though it did play a part in the larger cause to improve immunization protocols around the U.S., and drew the attention of some very noteworthy people of the time, including the famous cowboy pundit, writer and entertainer Will Rogers...who died in a plane crash while flying into Alaska in 1935. He had taken diphtheria very seriously -- his youngest son died of it when he was only two years old. In fact, childhood illnesses were one of the few subjects he was ever serious about.

Is this site the only active site that supports Balto?

Not within the next year or two, certainly. But honestly, I'm skeptical about it. Not to get into politics, but current numbers suggest that the stimulus actually damaged the economy. Like I couldn't have told them that. But even if the economy rebounds, there's still my own situation to think about; if I have a wife and kids, say, ten years from now, I'll probably have more important expenses to worry about than a cross-country plane trip.

When it comes to Balto topics, it almost always ends with a fight and then a locking, that's how i think there isn't a great potential here, it's good though, but people hate you here for wanting to see Balto 4!
