Devin's grin widened. "Great idea," she said, standing up quickly. Sandshrew kneaded the ground eagerly.

Charlie was gone in taller grass for awhile, training his Pikachu against other Pokemon. Every now and then they ould hear him shout "Thunderbolt now!" to Pikachu.

Since Charlie was off training, that left just her and Trav. Devin looked at him, an expectant gleam in her eyes. "Do you want to have a quick practice battle?" she asked eagerly.

Trav couldn't help himself from letting the widest grin he'd ever felt cross his face. "Oh yeah!" He said with the biggest hint of excitement in his voice. He looked at his vulpix who was still on his shoulder and nodded. His vulpix understood. They had some type of connection. And Trav could only guess it was because vulpix was his first pokemon.

"You're on!" He called. Vulpix jumped off of Trav's shoulders gracefully, and landed softly on the ground, curling its tails around its front legs and purring, 'Vul, vul.'

Charlie was long gone in the grass, training his Pikachu with a bunch of the wild Pokemon. They could year his muffled voice callign out attacks, but it was nothing they could understand, he was too far away.

Sandshrew slid out of Devin's arms and onto the ground, looking every bit as excited as it's trainer. Devin took up a ready stance, a gleam of excitement in her eye. "Ready?" she asked, looking down at her Pokemon. "Shrew, shrew!" Sandshrew said eagerly.

OOC: Er... how about 10? Btw, if you guys don't know what attacks your pokemon have at certain levels, look them up here. When you search a pokemon, in the index there should be a 'learnset' part, and under that, 'by leveling up' or something like that. Click that and it should show you.

The only problem with getting this battle started, was the fact that neither one of the new trainers were sure of their pokemon's powers. "Er... vulpix?" Vulpix turned gently to see Trav. "I'm not sure what attacks you know," Trav said with a hint of embarrassment. He put his hands behind his back to compliment the gesture, and chuckled ever so quietly. When he returned to his original posture, Vulpix had a look of determination in her eyes. She cried, 'Vul!' and thrust her head up to the sky.

She gave a wisp of fire and let it breath out into the air. Alright... so she knows ember... Trav was making mental notes. Vulpix then slapped its tail around full force through the air. Tail whip, got it... She proceeded to get up and make a growling noise that Trav could only be sure was roar. Though, since none of them had more than one pokemon, that one was useless at the moment. "Alright! Awesome! We can get more as we level, huh Vulpix?" At first, the little pokemon seemed almost embarrassed at so little moves to show. But with Trav's confidence, she managed to boost her own and turn to Devin and her sandshrew. "We're ready when you are!"

After a few minutes, Charlie came back with his Pikachu and say at the sidelines and watched the battle.
"What, you guys are battling?" he asked, a little bit of excitement in his voice.

"Yup!" Devin replied to Charlie, excitement clear in her voice as well. Glancing at Sandshrew, she asked. "What type of attacks do you know?" Sandshrew slashed out with it's claws, then curled into a tight ball. Okay, Scratch and Defense Curl, Devin thought. Sandshrew showed her Sand Attack and Poison Sting next.

Awesome, she thought to herself, extremely pleased with her Pokemon. "You can have the first move," she called out to Trav.

"Alright, get ready to be beaten!" Trav yelled excitedly. He looked at Vulpix and nodded triumphantly, giving his vulpix confidence as well. Vulpix nodded back, just as excited as he was. It was both of their first battles together. "Alright, vulpix, charge and then use ember!" Vulpix obeyed with a 'Vul!' and charged, just as Trav instructed, towards the sandshrew on the other side. She waited until she was a few feet away before jumping up into the air and breathing a flame of fire in sandshrew's direction.

"Defense Curl, quick!" Devin shouted, her heart pounding with excitement. This felt amazing! Sandshrew obediently curled into a ball, the Ember deflected by the defensive move. "Now use Poison Sting!" she added.

"Vulpix, dodge, then ember again!" Vulpix tried her best to dodge, but she wasn't able to get away fast enough. The poison string just barely brushed her shoulder. She crunched her teeth in an attempt to make the slight prick of pain go away. She landed, barely managing to keep her balance, but eventually finding it and pulling herself up to stand strong. "You okay, vulpix?" Travis asked, a bit concerned. Vulpix nodded confidently. 'Vul, vul!' She then led another spread of fire come from her throat.

"Use tail whip!" Vulpix was slightly confused at her trainers tactics. Why was he asking for one attack and another while that was going on? But she decided not to question it. While the flames were still going, Vulpix leaped through the fire, doing a somersault in mid air and whacking Sandshrew with all her might. Since she was a fire type, naturally, her own attack barely affected her.

Sadnshrew dodged the Ember, but the Tail Whip hit straight on. "No, Sandshrew!" Devin shouted. Wincing, the Pokemon straightened. "Sandshrew, use Scratch, then Poison Sting again!"
