Why would I worry? Mara thought back. This is fun!
"Tell me about it," Liera groaned. "Does anyone have a barf bag?"

Coby laughed weakly. "Just don't have too much fun, please." he pleaded of Mara.
Malk lifted his head ever-so-slightly, just at the right moment to shout, "Mara, watch out for that stop sign!"

Mara swerved to avoid the stop sign, causing a few horns to blare angrily. She ignored them, grinning as she dodged a large delivery truck, cutting into the next lane.
"Turn right at the next two intersections," Liera said, trying to ignore her rising nausea as she stared at the map. Her face pale and tinted green, she obviously wasn't enjoying this as much as Mara.

Malk leaned his head against the seat in front of him, still holding his stomach.
Coby tried to be supportive. "You know," he began, the paused to let a wave of nausea pass, "I think, for a first-time driver, she's doing awesome."
"Yeah," Malk goraned sarcastically, "Awesome."

"You were being sarcastic, right?" Liera said weakly, hoping he wasn't serious. Her stomach seemed to be left behind as Mara made another sharp turn, and a moan escaped the eel-hybrid once again.

Coby sent a sudden telepathic message to Liera and Malk that said, Just trying to keep her from getting mad and purposely ramming us all into a tree, capisce?
"Idiot." Malk grumbled after hearing Coby's theory.

She won't ram into a tree....on purpose. Liera thought back, scrunching her face in concentration. She would be in the crash too.
Mara made another sharp turn, a grin lighting up her face as she was thrown to the side. She settled back in the leather seat, her tail twitching happily. The annoying blare of a police siren made the feeling fade, and she looked behind her briefly. They were on her tail. Do I pull overm or not? she asked Coby.

If we don't stop, they'll just keep chasing us. Coby stated. Pull over, but if they ask for a license, we'll make a run for it.
Malk was startled by the whining of the sirens behind them, and as he tuned his head to see them out of the corner of his eye, he noticed they were hot on their heels. He glanced out his window, spotting a narrow but deep brook running alongside the road. Good, he thought to himself, there's a river nearby. We could escape if we need to.

Mara reluctantly pulled over, straightening up and trying to look older. A small glance at her tail, and she quickly tucked it into her pants, wrapping it around her leg. It was the only place where it would be really concealed.

Ooc:// Love to ^^
As Coby felt the car veer to the side and come to a stop, he did his best to keep his large bat wings concealed beneath his thin track jacket, scrambling to find a pair of shades in the glove compartment to hide his blank eyes.
Malk kept his second row of teeth retracted, also worried that the small fins on his wrists may be noticed. He pulled the collar of his black leather jacket as high as it would go to hide the slits on his neck.
The police car sirens flared one more time before screeching to a halt behind the kids' stolen vehicle. A tall, thin, female cop exited the driver's side of the car, and a stocky male cop with a half-eaten donut in hand exited the passenger side. The female cop, light brown hair pulled back into a smooth bun beneath her police cap, approached the driver side and peeked in. "Erm," she began, not expecting the driver or passengers to be so young. "Miss, do you realize why I pulled you over?" she asked. The stocky cop approached Coby's side, also inspecting Malk and Liera in the back. Coby had gotten the shades on just in time, but what he didn't realize was that the shades weren't shades at all; they were reading glasses. The stocky cop simply stared, asking rudely, "Are you blind?" "Sanders!" shouted the female officer. She looked back at Mara, awaiting an answer.

Mara simply pointed to her throat and shook her head.
"She's mute, ma'am," Liera jumped in. "And we're so sorry that we're speeding. It's just that he was supposed to go in and get a procedure done on his eyes, and we're really, really late because our mom died recently, and we've forgotten everything but out memories of her." Tears glazed her eyes as her acting skills took over. "She was really nice; the best mom anyone could have. She adopted all of us, even though no one else would."
Liera sniffled convicingly. "Sorry if we were a problem. It's just that we really have to get his eyes fixed. One of the last things our mom said was reminding us to take him. She never forgot an appointment. She was so organized...she always took care of us." Another sniffle, another teardrop.

By then, the stocky cop was bawling his little eyes out. "Let's let 'em go, Georgia!" he pleaded through sobs, lifting his hat off to wipe his eyes. "I'm sorry I was so rude, kid!" he apologized at Coby. "Fulfill your mother's wishes, please!"
Georgia, the female cop, rolled her eyes at her weeping sidekick, then looked back at Mara and raised an eyebrow. "Alright then," she challenged, "I guess I can't do anything else but ask for license and registration. I've been on the force for fourteen years, and I can spot a liar when I see one." she landed that last statement straight at Liera. She glanced at Malk. "What about you, kid? What's wrong with you?"
Malk realized he was still holding his stomach from Mara's driving, but he instantly snapped his eyes open and straightened up. "I'm fine. Just along for the ride."
Georgia nodded hesitantly at Malk's sudden transformation, then looked back at Mara as Coby blindly shuffled through papers in the glove compartment, wondering which one was the car registration.

Liera spotted something that looked like a drivers' liscense, but the picture didn't match at all. "For one, I'm not lying," she said, wiping away a tear. "And while you may be able to spot a liar, you obviously can't spot the truth!"
Mara looked at Liera warningly; they were in hot water as it was. There was no need to get them aggravated further. But distracting their attention was a good idea.

Georgia glared at Liera with steely eyes. "Kid, to be honest, I don't care where you came from or where you're going. I can't let you go without seeing identification or registration. I'm sorry, but it's my job."
Coby shook his head, aggravated. He couldn't tell what any of these papers looked like, and they weren't going to make a clean, unscathed escape with two armed police officers guarding the doors. He sent a telepathic message to all three of them, saying, I can't tell which of these papers we need... and the escape plan missed that these people are armed and could call for backup at any moment. What do I do?

Mara didn't think; she acted. Flooring the gas pedal, she left dark streaks on the ground as she roared away, the engine complaining loudly at the sudden burst. Run? she suggested.
"Mara!" Liera shrieked, her face going pale again. Fear coursed through her; she had little faith in her friend's driving skills.
