I'm one of those people who finds it hard to fall in love with "the next generation" type shows. Any show I watch must have the original characters in it, or I refuse to watch it. LOL. Besides that, though, the universe it is in seems far too modern for Avatar terms. If Tenzin is indeed Katara and Aang's son, and he is alive and teaching Korra air bending, then it doesn't seem likely that things would have advanced this far. ^^This, I'm honestly not sold on it. I just find it hard to like because I'm so used to the original. I'm not a big fan of Korra (not that I'm against female leads but mreh..) :/ There's a week until it premieres, but part of what made The Last Airbender so special to me was the characters. I mean who doesn't like all of Sokka's epic fails? Are they going to recycle a plot element and make some group from the Fire Nation evil again? I hope not.. I can't say the show is good or bad yet as I haven't seen it, but I'm very doubtful of it. Now from what I saw in the trailer it looks like there's going to be some nice action in it, and I'm a huge martial arts action junkie sooo I guess I'll have to wait and see. Current opinions: On the fence leaning towards disliking it.

I understand that the absence of the original cast is a downer. I mean, whats the series without Sokka and Zuko??? However, most of you are forgetting something important: it was made by the same original creators. And after that disgraceful Last Airbender Film, that actually means A LOT! I think that they are capable of making something new and just as amazing as the first one. And after seeing the first two episodes, this new series actually looks really promising! The new characters have a lot of spunk in them, and I was actually surprised by how often I laughed! Its so hilarious and the characters are actually really impressive! And its not just me who thinks so, my roommate was also impressed by it and so are my other peers. We are really stoked for this series!
So the moral of this story: give it a chance. You may or may not like it, but I personally think that it has a lot of potential! I plan to watch it of course. Yes I do think it will be better in many ways than the movie (which I heard was HORRIBLE so I'm glad I didn't watch it). If or when I do see it and my opinions become solidified, I'll take back whatever it was I said Lol. I was glad to see that they didn't change the animation, but for me it will probably take some time to get used to. Then again, this is a whole other story so perhaps I should treat it like so.

Dude, the series is amazing! Even though I watched the first two episodes weeks before, and I have both episodes on my iPad now. (download from iTunes. Don't know if it's still free but check it out) Anyway, my entire family watched it today, and we all loved it! And my mom, who hates cartoons and obviously was not a fan of Avatar, was laughing along with the rest of us, especially at the "Terrible teacher daddy!" line by Meelo. It takes A LOT to get her to do that, so I was really impressed

I saw it, my opinion still stands for the most part, however for my official review:
Hidden text : click to show
As far as the avatar series is concerned, I am a real "avatard." Seeing the new series finally premiere was very nice. After watching the first two episodes I was a little disappointed, but not as much as I probably would have been had I watched the live action movie.
Thankfully the animation wasn't changed in anyway, it still looks like an "avatar" cartoon. The changes to the world are very weird however seeing how modern things are now.
My main dislike would have to be the characters or "character" as you will.
Korra: I know it's the politically correct thing to have "strong" females, and there's nothing wrong with that. But Korra just comes off as annoying. How many times can you say "I'm the avatar" within one hour? (I know it's the first two episodes and all but come on, they've been saying it for months now) This fact is thrown in your face several times and it gets tiring. She's not very likeable from my perspective, at least not like the former avatar was. The positive is she tries to do the right thing, but in a VERY cocky, stubborn way which makes it really hard to warm up to her.
Tenzin: Tenzin is probably one of the better characters that I've seen, quickly becoming my favorite. From his facial expressions to his lectures, I see a lot of his father inside him though Aang is not a living character in this series.
The current supporting cast is okay, nothing really special that I noticed about them given the fact that I haven't seen all that much of them anyway.
The villains I have to say though, look really cool. This may be one of the rare occasions where I prefer the bad guy over the good guy-er girl, with the exception of Tenzin.
The action is very entertaining. Everything I expected it to be as far as the bending and martial arts is concerned so there was nothing missing from that department. People get hit with all the elements: fire, earth, water, etc.
For me even though most of the characters lack the charm of the original, I still say it's worth a watch. I myself will continue to do so and perhaps with time my opinions may change again. There is after all still plenty of character development to be had, I'm only going by what little I saw. So, over all 10/10 for animation, 5/10 for characters (at the moment people) 10/10 for action, and I can't really give the story an accurate rating as I don't know the whole of it yet.

ZukotheCat wrote: I kind of liked that Korra was so flawed. That way she would have something to develop from and she wouldn't come off as your typical "Mary Sue". Of course I'm not saying I want her to be Mary Sue, but there is a such thing as an overly flawed character which ends up being a Mary Sue in its own way (not that I'm saying this either). I'm watching Korra's development closely and I've been surprised a few times I have to say. However I'm not jumping full on the relation"ship" with her yet Lol. Maybe her and Bolin though..as unpopular as it seems at the moment XD. Although I do like Mako and Asami ``)

Finally decided to check out the new episode to see what all the hype is about. I have to say, it seems pretty decent. There's definitely a different "feel" that ATLA had, but I like where it seems to be going.

This show is a really good show, doesn't beat the original Avatar though. xD
It has good characters, good plot (except that one episode...) And is more then halfway decent.
I wonder who the main antagonist is, xD I am pretty sure that he is someone in the show already.
What are you guys theorys about who the main antagonist is?

Okay. After watching a few more episodes (I think I'm on four or something...), I'm starting to like the show. It does have a lot more of the original Avatar in it than I previously could have guessed, and it has a nice plotline and great characters.
It's all Saske and Rio's faults. xD I've started to fall in love with the show.
