Wulffrith said hurtfully "They don't hate you, Rusty, and they never will. They have very high regards of you because they know you will be the future alpha male and it is their job to get you and myself ready for our jobs. Do you not understand that, Rusty? Do you not trust me? Do you not think that I know my parents?"

"Why the hell would they want me to be the alpha male? I mean I am rough around the edges."

Wulffrith said "Because they know when you mature you will be a lot better and so do I. Look at you now. You aren't rough at all. You are stubborn right now but all males are. When you are like this all of the time then you will be ready to see them again but until then we must work on maturing on our own. My mother said he was worse then you were and look at him now. He is respected by all except MAYBE you. Even I respect him, Rusty. He is a great wolf and he sees that you will be a greater wolf than he is and he wants you to become that wolf he sees in you and that is why he is hard on you."

"But why would they want me. I didn't come from anything great just two ordinary wolves that's it. It just doesn't make any sense to me." Rusty said resting his head in his paws and rubbed just above his eyes.

Wulffrith smiled and said "You don't choose an alpha from heritage, Rusty. You choose it by a wolf's personality by who the wolf is. They knew that you were going to be a great wolf once you fully mature and I agree with them. You WILL be a great wolf, Rusty. I just know you will."

"Why was I never told? Not even you told me until now."

Wulffrith sighed and said "Because my parents never told me until now. I was hinting at it for quite some time but I never knew for certain until yesterday. So, that's why I never told you. My parents most likely didn't want to tell us until we were ready to know why. You have to think about it. If I wasn't the one who was telling you after what just happened what would you have done? I wasn't ready until yesterday, my parents and I both think. I would have gone bonkers myself."

"Why did they never tell me though?"

Wulffrith sighed and said "Don't you get it, Rusty. They thought that you weren't ready yet because of how you act but I know you are ready for this. You are actually more ready for this than I was."

"Then why'd they want me to leave? If your father was the same way, why'd they threaten to kill me?"

Wulffrith said "Only he did and he did it because it was the same way with him. He wasn't from a line either but he became the alpha male because of what he went through with the alpha female when they were out on their own."

"Now you're just lying" Rusty said shaking his head.

Wulffrith said "I'm not lying to you, Rusty. There's no reason to lie to you."

"I'm sorry it just seems like you are trying to make me feel better."

Wulffrith shook her head and said "I wouldn't ever lie to you even to make you feel better because it would hurt us both in the long run, Rusty. You know that."
