Gonna just update my post here since ive changed since my last post n all..
I am NOT a Furry. I dont want to call myself that word no more.. im sick of all the crap, i remember learning thegood stuff from my close friend and we both was so stoked and had our fun with being it. i started drawing anthros as i was always a fan but never knew of it being called'Anthro' and there goes start of my fun. but after a long thing i had SO much crap thrown at me.. i had Trolls. Flamers.. The forbidden Y word.. im not lieing i made a TON of lovely furry friends. i still got some now, others Nope.. il mention a story of whatpushed me over the edge.. i knew of all this stuff and whatnot but when TWO guys who was soo friendly. Both wanted to roleplay (seperate times and all) started out cool anthro rp and what not.. but long story short. they both tried to have Sexual relations with Me... That just pushed me i cant believe that.. it wasnt till they told me they had girlsfriends n all. this was just for fun. i just turned and ran.. really that sickened me.. and after so much other crap i just threw my hands up and gave up. I aint a Furry... I am a normal HUMAN who loves animals. has a fursona. and enjoys anthro art. thats IT okay? I admit not all furries are bad (hence the good ones i got now) but theres enough to make anyone flame you. i aint going through that.. you afurry? okay cool. lets be friends. you a (forbidden word)? Well okay.. keep it out of my face.. point is i aint a Hater. i dont mind furries, but i am certainly aint one.. seriously i know and trust all ofyou furries here you must be good ones. youl probably fight me saying "Not all furries are bad. they are good mostly" well yea right.. you telling me not 80% of furry fandom like that stuff? the bad side? cause i seen how bad it got. (thanks to random links.. thanks 'so called friends') and how many people are like that. ragh just.. annoys me.. i dont mind Fursuits they creep me out at times but i admit some are funny/cool. i aint wanting one though.. and last note.. i hate to say but its pretty right.. first i got NOTHING agaisnt homosexuals. or Bisexuals. i got afew friends who are. nice people. i mean NO offence at all to saying this. but isnt it odd how so much of the population of furries. mostly thebad side. are Bi? JUST for the furry side? like in reallife they striaght but fursona is gay/bi. or the other way round as in gay but fursona is bi... just.. wha? its nothing major but i noticed it along the way how 90% of the population i met are straight or gay irl. but fursonas are Bi.. *shakes head* thats all i can say. hope you enjoyed reading my lil info on my thoughts on furries.

Oh, yeah, thanks for enlightening me, that's just sick, I'm not gay, or bi, I still like anthros, and animals, but I think it's just to creepy for me to associate myself with anymore.

I agree with you full heartedly, i tend to stray from hanging around with Furry gay-bi people. The reason? I don't trust them. nobody take offense, but too many have creeped me out, (and most of them HAVE been furries <_<) I don't care HOW NICE OR FUNNY they MAY SEEM, of the many I have met, they have hidden motives, which sickens me to the core -.-

Wow, Zi, when did this start happening? D8 You were doing so well with furries... That was very rude of them. If that's their thing then fine, but they should've made sure you were comfortable with it before saying that kind of junk. I'm not very comfortable with how this topic is going in general. -_-

I've been in the furry fandom for about 8-ish years. I don't let the actions of others dictate my fandom and I've just learned to roll with the punches. Hooray for taking very little of life seriously.
The fandom isn't all nutbags and bad apples, although they are thr loudest and that kinda sucks for all us furries are aren't clinically insane and just like anthro animals.
If furry isn't your thing or you tried it and went "whoa dude, this is kinda scary" then that's okay. Just don't automatically group all furries with the wackos, we're not all creepers. :3

(thanks to random links.. thanks 'so called friends') and how many people are like that.. Are you speaking about my argument? Well I'll give you a heads up then, generally speaking a somewhat number of the fur fandom like the mature side, but thats their choice & I repsect that. but theres still some who don't dig that sort of thing and are into the cleaner and are in the good side. AND I with say it again why stay in the mature stuff if you don't like it hmm..? It's not hard to think about it or stay away from it honestly folks "though I'm not sure which part of the fandom you are in" And I hate to say it but I hate to be labeled as a piece of trash, cause of something others do thats what really makes me very upset. So about right now if I said "I'm a fur" then what would run through peeps minds? most likely "I'm a sicking weirdo who has no life" or "A freako who likes to sexual RP" or "I'm a adult animal drawing creep" granted some have no problem with it, but that doesn't happen very often. some folks getting butt-hurt over stupid things, if that isn't what they or you. like well stay Away from it! But thats just how it rolls boys and girls I wasnt really refering to anything you said. i just spoke my mind. I know alot of good people who are clean and nice. and a few others who are into that stuff but they keep it out my face and whatnot. i respect that. but im just sick of those who try Convert me.. or Try to make me into a type they are. i had someone try force me to get a fursuit.. others to try drawing The forbidden Y word.. and i had alot of NONE furries insult me and whatnot. i walk away but they spam me. and it happens so often i just give up.. im the same as always i just aint going to call myself the word. i aint changed from who i was. i just dont call me that 5 letter word.. yet somehow that insulted alot of furries. i had one who was a good friend start trying to say "well kay. but you are one.." and im like .. no i aint.. and blah blah blah seriously why it such a issue for me not to call myself the 5 letter word? thats all thats changed from me.. yet a ton of friends think im crazy and changed

Question wrote: I don't concider myself one. Never have, doubt I ever will. I find it creepy. Agreed. Most definitely agreed. The costume aspect, to me, is no different than extreme Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Twilight, etc. fans and LARPers who play dress up. IMHO, weird. Geeky. Just my opinion. Not saying it's a fact. But I happen to see it as a fact from my perspective. The perverted sexual aspects of certain furries (note my clarification) reeeeaaaaally weirds and creeps me out, and makes me want to hurl. The art thing (the CLEAN art) is interesting, perhaps. But I find it odd how furries view themselves in a very idealistic way, when many of them (probably most) are not nearly as handsome, pretty and/or physically fit as their, er..."fursonas". And that porno art? Ugh... I also find it particularly interesting how, in light of the general public's view of furries (which furries decry as unfairly generated by shows such as CSI, etc.) has caused them to start assigning themselves new categories, labels and social groupings in order to disassociate from what the public openly finds distasteful or worth mocking (right or wrong being beside the point). Star Trek fans did it in the 80s after that watermark Saturday Night Live episode with William Shatner. And lots of other fans of fantasy and science fiction (and horror) do so. But in the grand scheme, it really changes nothing from the layman's point of view. A furry is a furry no matter if he or she prefers to call him or herself that, or "therian", or whatever else they want to call themselves. Myths or stereotypes often have their foundation in some measure of fact. And even if furries HATE the image of them presented on CSI, there are elements there which were drawn from SOMEWHERE factual. Maybe the images there don't represent the "furry" community as a whole. But to the general layman, that doesn't matter. A layman is not interested in having to interpret this category, that category ("I just like the art", "I don't see anything wrong with dressing up", "what's wrong with being a furry?", etc.). Nor should the layman have to. For good or ill, furries -- being an alternative social interest and, in some cases, lifestyle, anyway -- have to join the ranks of all others who express interest in things which are not generally embraced by societies at large, and accept that there will always be some confusion over, aversion to, and even hostility towards that interest or lifestyle.

You're free to your opinion, but I fail to see how cos-playing is weird. Actually, I quite enjoyed Halloween... when I was a kid. And dressing up for one holiday, one night of an entire year, to trick-or-treat for a bagload of candy is hardly the same thing as cos-playing. They are entirely dissimilar. As is the mindset behind them. To attempt to compare them is silly. Dressing up for one little holiday with the overriding motivation being candy; playing dress-up and pretending (or perhaps even believing...*shiver*) that one is an animal...or rather, some weird physical hybrid of an animal and a human being a lot. Nope...I don't see even so much as a remote similarity. Even if an adult (or older teen or young adult) dresses up for a Halloween party or something, it still is entirely dissimilar to a teenager, young adult or adult doing the furry thing. Entirely. The two mindsets, and the motivations behind them, could not be farther apart. And you're entitled to your opinion as well. And if you like being a furry, that's fine. I never said people have no right exercising their thing...whatever that is. Doesn't mean I haven't the right to think it's really freaking weird.

I agree that cos-playing has not much to do with the Halloween tradition. Other than that of wearing a costume. Nope...I don't see even so much as a remote similarity. Now that you have specified some we're getting somewhere. It could be considered 'weird' if you were to wear a fursuit and think with all your being that you're some animal. I can reason with to a limit. Some people get to bizarre about it. And I have heard about some who make certain... 'additions' to their 'costumes'. That to me is beyond weird in fact. JerseyCaptain wrote: And you're entitled to your opinion as well. I'd never considered myself a 'furry'. Or at least I don't think I would... there are times I draw furries. And that's probably closest I'd get to being a furry. Granted I think fursuits are fun and interesting, but I find werewolves much more fascinating and would rather make and/or wear a well made werewolf costume. What I say about furries is mostly in defense for those I know who are furries, and are great people who don't deserve to be bashed.
