Fen chuckled and turned to look at her after they got deep enough into the forest. "You hungry?" He asked looking around for food, then remebering she was a vampire and they needed blood. He looked at her "Uh...." he quickly turned and started cleaning his sword, not really knowing what to do anymore.

Shay smiled faintly. "I'm fine," she said, her voice echoing slightly through the misty woods. She noticed that he seemed a bit awkward, and wondered if it had anything to do with her being a vampire. Probably, but she hoped not.

Fen shook his head, clearing it of his doubt. "I mean like blood. Do you need it?" He didnt know if vampires got weak with lack of blood, or how long they could go without it...but he was going to take care of her.

"I'm good for now," Shay said.

Fen nodded, he sniffed the air and got tensed, his hand flying to his sword he pulled it out and lunged into the undergrowth. He saw the scout that had found them and quickly slit his throat. "Not good..." he muttered to himself. Something in him made him want to protect this vampire girl.

Shay looked at the dead scout with her blue eyes, then turning her gaze away from him. "Not good..." she heard Fen say, and silently agreed.

Fen turned quickly to face Shay. "I dont want to kill them...no matter what they did to me. Surley you know of a place were we can stay for the night were the other vampires will not find us." His hand gripping tighter on the hilt of his bloodied sword.

Shay nodded, a mental map conjuring in her mind. Ruined buildings lay east of them, only a bit away. No one would think that they would stay there, and she was one of the few vampires that knew about them. "Follow me," she instructed, looking at the stars twinkling overhead, judging her position. Knowledge sparkled in her blue eyes, and she started walking east.

Fen followed and couldnt help but hold her hand in his own. "Sorry..i dont mean for this to be anything...it just helps me concentrate on what im protecting." He said as he stayed alrert and contiuned forward with Shay at his side.

Shay's response was to tighten her grip on his rough, callused hand. She enjoyed the contact, it made her feel warm inside. A smile tugged at the corner of her lips, showing even more clearly in her glittering blue eyes.

Fen was suprised that Shay gripped his hand back, he looked at her and saw her happiness, it made him feel warm and fuzzy on the inside, but this feeling was so new to him that he didnt know what it was. "How much further is it?" He asked her. After a long day of slaving away for the other vampires, his body was sore and tired.

"Not to far," SHay said, watching the stars overhead, noting their position above her as she spoke. "We should reach it in a little over fifteen minutes," she added.

Fen nodded and cought her looking up "You use the star's to know were your at?" He asked as he sniffed the air to make sure there were no other scouts.

Shay nodded. "Sometimes," she said, her voice soft but clear, cutting through the still night air easily.

Fen was at a lost for words...he was the only person that he had ever known of that had used the stars to tell were he was. He simply let his hand grip Shay's and his secound hand rest on the hilt of his sword. He stayed alert and active although he felt as though he was about to collapse.
