I seriously doubt Dennis Hopper would have chosen this to be the film he went out on. Biggest fizzle out for a legendary actor since Orson Welles died after doing the 1986 Transformers movie.

I want to like it (wolf movies = EPIC NOSTALGIA), but I just can't. The humor seems stale and the story has been done too many times. On top of that, the animation looks atrocious. I'd like nothing more in the world than for this movie to be good. Unfortunately, I can't quite see that happening.

Pretty much this. I'm not holding out hope for this movie. Still gonna go see it, but I'm not really expecting it to knock my socks off.

I was pretty surprised at the amount of innuendo in the trailer though. At least I'll feel more mature than the target audience (hardcore-to-the-point-it's-frightening preteen wolf fans from Deviantart, children, and washed-up furries. I think I'm in the "washed-up furry" category.)

I'm so going to count how many air brushed wolf t-shirts I see when I go. It'll be like slugbug.

I'm sorry, this is just bugging me. WHY DO THE WOLVES HAVE HAIR.

Okay, lemme tell you why Alpha and Omega is gonna suck.

First thing, look at the title. A little blunt, doncha say? Maybe a little misleading? Its about an alpha wolf and an omega wolf. I'd expect a bit of a deeper meaning, like some person's awesome connection to God and wolves, kinda like with Wolf's Rain, where wolves were the key to Paradise? Oh wait, no I guess I WOULDN'T expect something like that seeing as the movies were made by a buncha BSers with expensive computers.

Now let's keep looking at the trailer. Kate's an "Alpha". Humphrey Hidden text : click to show
is an "Omega". Now, remember when you were in high school? I mean middle school? I mean, when you were in elementary school and you saw all those Disney movies where EVERYTHING is based on social status and not necessarily how physically vital your role is in society? That's the next problem. They've completely taken any kind of information people actually KNOW about wolves and turned it into something "MODERN".

The "alpha" is no longer the strongest wolf in the pack. Its the "popular" kid everyone wants/wants to be. The "omega" is the "loser".

I had no idea that the shallowness of teenagers was influencing wild animals 8D

Hidden text : click to show

Now, what is the problem with having that interpretation with this particular movie? Well, drifting away from the trailer for a moment, lets take a look at the synopsis of the movie.

Quote:
"What makes for the ultimate road trip? Hitchhiking, truck stops, angry bears, prickly porcupines and a golfing goose with a duck caddy.

(Okay that's a little random and unnecessarily long)

Quote:
Just ask Kate and Humphrey

(Yea sure, lemme just ask two characters something I'm not even remotely curious about.)

Quote:
--two wolves who are trying to get home after being taken by park rangers and shipped halfway across the country. Humphrey is an Omega wolf, whose days are about quick wit, snappy one-liners and hanging with his motley crew of fun-loving wolves and video-gaming squirrels. Kate is an Alpha: duty, discipline and sleek Lara Croft

(Lara Croft, since its a kid's movie, ALL kids know who SHE is.)

Quote:
eye-popping moves fuel her fire. Humphrey's motto – make 'em laugh. Kate's motto – I'm the boss. And they have a thousand miles to go.

(Oh and by the way, we forgot to add this part.)

Quote:
Back home rival wolf packs are on the march and conflict is brewing. Only Kate and Humphrey can restore the peace. But first, they have to survive each other. "

So lets say "alpha" does in fact mean that the wolf is highly disciplined and strong and all that. The omega is all about fun? Whats so "fun" about being an omega? That wolf is the target of all the other wolves' anger. They are the small and the meek. (not to mention the sick, weak, and just all-round useless.)

You might be saying "SO!? THAT'S WHAT NERDS ARE IN TODAY'S SOCIETY". WRONG. The "omegas" out "having fun" are the ones who're pretty set with their life (expect in the movie's case where he HAS TO HAVE THE MOST POPULAR GIRL IN SCHOOL TEEHEE) am I right? If you're having fun, who gives a rat's tail? Humphrey isn't described as the poor soul who gets pushed around and doesn't fit in, he's described as a clown! He's described as someone who's out having fun and being sarcastic and all that.

Speaking of comedy. That's what this is right? A comedy? Cuz I thought I heard some stuff in the trailer that was supposed to be funny. Oh wait, they were funny in the first hundred movies they were used in. (Ida-WHO?! I can't hold in my pee because of my tiny bladder! Ow my tail!!) Is this gonna be one of those movies where there's gonna be no slapstick when there should be slapstick?

I mean lookit how lame Kate is. For the "repopulate" joke, Humphrey's all like "Ooh sounds good to me" and she's all like *puts paw under chin* "No?" Why didn't she sit on his head? Why didn't she punch him in the face? Something other than that? Is she gonna hate this guy at first? Is there gonna be ANY character development? Or is she just gonna be "too good to hate bawww".

And what's with this quote?

Quote:
Humphrey: You know? We make a pretty good team.
Kate: HA! ......we do *giggles*

What's wrong with that you ask? IT WASN'T FUNNY. Thank you, trailer, you showed that she's gonna like the guy in the end. Big freaking deal, no need to see how now I guess.

Why didn't it go like this?

Quote:
Humphrey: You know? We make a pretty good team.
Kate: HA! That's what you think.

Or

Quote:
Humphrey: You know? We make a pretty good team.
Kate: I'm trying to see how long I can go without agreeing with you.

Or

Quote:
Humphrey: You know? We make a pretty good team.
Kate: LOL! *walks off*

Or something around those lines? To show he gets pwned? Cuz pwned characters are hysterical.

BUT WAIT, HE GETS HIT IN THE FACE WITH BUTTS. What are you, 4? Get out.

ANYWAY. The plot. Aside from the fact it sounds like the script was taken from a bad fanfic or two. OH THEY HAVE TO GO BACK HOME AND THEN THEY FALL IN LOVE. Oh and by the way, this happens. Among the "lupine romance" there's a subplot where two packs are going to war and Kate has to "marry" the other pack's "alpha" so they can keep the peace. I never understood this, why would two people from differing backgrounds have to marry to keep the peace? Can't they just stay friends? If the two people have some sort of political or military power, can't the two leaders just say "Hey, stop this crap and like each other, stop being a bunch of wussies"? Or is it gonna be like--

Quote:
"I'm gonna attack your pack."
"Why?"
"Cuz I want to, unless I can marry whatshername."
"Can't you marry someone else?"
"Nope she's my favorite, and I'm just plain evil."

I don't have to touch on the plot that much cuz there's NOTHING THERE. Even Rover Dangerfield cracked more and BETTER wolf jokes than this POS.

Quote:
Rover Dangerfield: *as he's rolling a wolf uncontrollably down a hill on a log* I know what you're thinkin, you'd rather be at Grandma's house!

And look at these DESIGNS! UGH! I think I actually PREFER the sparkledog style! Is that too much??

I mean, the style's a LITTLE cute, like how the bodies are, but UGH the faces! BARF! They're so humanlike! Like Roadside Romeo humanlike! Its disgusting! Remember how the covers of the Animorphs books looked? Like how the "middle" transformation stage always made you cringe? Thats what it looks like! And why do all the wolves have MULLETS? I know the saying "Friends don't let friends have mullets" so does this mean these wolves HAVE no friends?

And whats with the Russian goose with the duck caddy, huh? Are they trying to be clever or something? Cuz all I see is Boris. Are they gonna be like Rut and Tuk from Brother Bear? Where all they are is comic relief and serve no real purpose to the plot--Yea I thought so. At least the moose were Canadian, where the jokes are endless. Whats so funny about golf? Hidden text : click to show

Okay, finally a bit of info. The director, Richard Rich, directed The Fox and the Hound. Big woop, right? (I hated that movie, but whatever.) He founded Crest Animation Productions, whose first and only GOOD movie was The Swan Princess, and even THAT had some pretty bad moments. But he was also responsible for The King and I and Brother Bear 2, which was a direct to video POS. Do you REALLY trust them to make this movie GOOD? You're kidding right?

"BUT CAAAAAAAAAAAT, IT'S JUST A KIIIIIIIIIIDS MOVIE."

Didn't we already have this argument? Just cuz its a kid's movie, doesn't mean we have to DUMB IT DOWN. Its described as a FAMILY movie, one where adults can even enjoy it! Like Up or Beauty and the Beast or Road to El Dorado or All Dogs Go To Heaven. You know, ones for kids, but there's stuff for adults too. But yea I guess even movies need a quick buck and I guess SOMEONE'S gotta be the bad movie of the month -_-

lol Cat14, I declare your comments null  Why? its down to opinion as always isn't it, people think Balto sucks, does it? I dont think so but meh what you gunna do.

I'm generally quite excited about this movie, although it's pretty generic in its humour "boy meets girl. Girl hot, smart, awesome. Guy dumb, idiotic but loveable etc etc" its a tried and tested formula so not very innovative on that front (however every story imaginable has been done to death) but overall the entire movie looks packaged together well, it looks really nice and the script doesnt seem as comepletly awful as some CGI movies, which I wont list here. So long as you dont mind a little bit of cheese accompaning this movie I think it'll do nicely.

While I agree with Cat "Dumbing it down because it's a kid's movie is not a good excuse" I will withhold the rest of my judgment till I see a bit more. Trailers can often be misleading in one of two ways: they are the funniest parts of the film and it's all downhill from there, or they completely miss the point of the movie, and I'm hoping it's the latter but expecting the former. Other than that I can get over the character designs in this if I got over them in "How to Train your Dragon". Like I said...We'll see, fingers crossed and expectations low.

I agree with you.

While the movie looks a bit silly and typical, and the pack formation is just... weird, I don't think we should base ALL our opinions on the trailer. I think it looks somewhat promising, despite its obvious major flaws.

This film doesn't look that promising. It looks rather low budget. Not to mention the characters act rather stupid.

Now that I think about, this movie seems to be a Balto/Bolt crossover. The characters seem to look Balto-like. (markings) Along with that goose that seems to much like Boris. The plot itself seems to have a Bolt theme going on. (From what information is available at this time.) Two wolves that have nothing in common are shipped off to Idaho. And Bolt? Bolt gets shipped off by mistake and ends up in new york city. Both wolves start off not liking each other that much. Bolt and Mittens are the same way. They both didn't like each other. Both characters from both movies start to become friends.
