ive heard that it could work if i installed linux and remove it through Linux(?)

Not really. Linux uses GRUB to boot with (Microsoft's stamp of disapproval), so GRUB won't recognize Vista as anything but unidentifiable used space.

But do you tell the XP installer to delete all drive partitions (remember to format them first!!! once done, your computer is system-free, so back up what you want to keep)? Once that is done, it should ask you if you want to make a new partition for Windows XP. Tell it to do so, and then wait for 2-3 hours for it to install the installer, then another 2-3 hours to install itself (xD) and you should be done.

If its a problem with your laptop having a problem having a constant traffic stream to your router (wireless or not), chances are the problem is that either A: the port you are trying to access with certain programs (typically messenger systems) is already in use and cuts out to refresh with a new port. That, or B: your DNS probably just needs to be flushed. Ever end FireFox or IE without closing it specifically? If using the End Now function or preforming a hard reboot (holding power button) tends to stall out your DNS connection. Go to Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig > /flushdns

Reboot. Success...? I do doubt it would be any hardware problem since a laptop network card rarely overheats from the heatsync and even drivers that are a year old can still function at 80% of its power.

I purchased a SATA connector for my laptop's HDD. I just finished doing a scan on the slave HDD and it has two trojans. My first question is, how do I remove them without having to restore and lose my files. (I use McAfee.) 2. Is there a chance that my desktop could end up with the trojans?

Edit:::

Is there a way I could boot directly to this HDD?
