Foxy Aleu wrote: Yes,You could shorten it to Conay_WSL. Meh, in MY opinion, I see it as long-ish, not TO long, just long, it dosen't expand the page more then a cm.. Or half. Conay_Fan_of_The_White_Star_Line is too long (Which was what my original white star username intended to me). AND Conay_WSL, it won't look right.

I agree with this. It really tickes me off kinda when they pick this really long names. Expecially when they are confronted with their absurdly long name and say stuff like this : Quote: not my fault i couldn't think of a shorter name and besides i like this name Sorry, but no. That's not a good reason. Heck, there IS no good reason for having a name thats 40 characters (including spaces) long. Anything that long can be shortened. A LOT. And it doesn't matter if they like the name or not. A name that long is pretty much spam. The longest one I've seen was 45 characters (including spaces) long. And yes, I counted. I mean, c'mon people! If it's supposed to "stand for something" (as I'm sure some of these people would whine about), put it in your freaking profile for all we care! But really now. Who honestly needs a 40-45 character long name? No one.

I'm sure I remember your name being much shorter in the past. Also - there's no rule on long names because Steet had, until now, forgotten to set a character limit on usernames. A limit means no one can have a name longer than 20 characters anyway therefore - no need for a rule. He has changed that now and the character limit is 20. Observe: Steet wrote: True, I checked and there is no limit to the size of the usernames (well, the limit is the database field size, which is 255 characters - a mistake) I will change that (both to the registering part and the name change part) Although it will only have effect on the registered accounts to come, or the people who will be changing their names in the future. (if I change their name size now, they will not be able to connect to the site)
The new limit will be 20 characters, which should be enough. If the moderators spot some usernames way too long, tell me and I will change them (but only after alerting these members) Steet wrote: I have made the changes.

But what's the point of such a long name? Ya don't have to put so much info in your username because if people really wanted to see it, they could just look at your profile. Also, your name is 35 characters long. I would say that's just a tad too long especially with Steet's new rule.
