I watched MTV, I did all my shopping at Hot Topic, and I listened to the radio. However, I have long grown out of this stage, and once you go through it, it gives you a sort of trendy gimmick detector. Linkin Park sets off a code red.

Welcome back RB. Dunno if you left but I haven't seen you in awhile. Forum needs more people like you.
Linkin Park....I have one of their songs on my iPod, it's In the End. There aren't many bands that I can say I actually like, though I will say I enjoy bits and pieces of some bands' work and In the End happens to be one of those songs.

Not sure if many people share your stance on that one. Anyway, thanks.

No problem. I can appreciate good character and witty responses when I see it.

I have to agree with whitewolf17 here, you don't know or you wouldn't be so openly rude to other's opinions.

Listen RB. I would give your opinions more merit if ya didn't come off as saying that your opinion is the end-all-be-all which ya frequently suggest.
I mean, most mainstream music is trash but I don't see Linkin park as "mainstream" and even if it is then I'd say that it would be wrong to judge them and their listeners by your own preconceptions.
Just try to be more open-minded.

Just try to be more open-minded. Right, when I hear "Mainstream" I think of bands like Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, or Good Charlotte.

I think you put too much emphasis on the work Mainstream. Just because something is very popular doesn't mean it's bad but I will agree that the opposite is also true just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good. I strike out against mainstream rap for the most part and listen to a great deal of unknown and unpopular hip hop artists. At one time yes Linkin park was the leader of the numetal/rapcore genre and now there pretty much an alt band if you listen to Minutes to Midnight. Also I have to say no i don't listen to Linkin park nearly as much as i used to but it's amusing to go back a listen to them every once and a while.

Y'know, at one time, bands like RATM and Alice In Chains WERE the mainstreamof their time. Now, it's different.

I don't think that RB would be willing to admit that anything he listens to is mainstream or ever was. I think he/she feels that whatever he/she listens to is non-mainstream and everything else is mainstream.

However, they were from a time where you could still find quality in the mainstream between all the waves of crap.
