"he makes a good point Shani, you cant just expect us to go out there and hunt, and fight like woves, weve never done that before. I can assure you, as can Cooper, that we might get harmed before any godd come out of us leaving, but luckily, if we work together.. we may work things thru"Cooper was proud that someone felt the same way, but he also knew that Isabella, and perhaps the others, would also agree. It was true, however, the dogs could resort to their instincts that have dwindled to near nothingness in order to keep themselves from dying from starvation, but the threat of the creature that linger within the depths of the forest outweighed the posibilities of successfully living like wolves.
"We don't mean to gang up on you, Shani. We're just not cut out to switch from pets to wild beasts." He looked at her sympathetically before he looked back at Azeriel, then to Izzy, and then to Angel, who looked quite shocked.
Angel was the delicate dog of the bunch. Just by the look of her one could calculate that she was meant for show and not sport, let alone try to live like a wild animal. All Cooper could do was flash her a reassuring grin before he left to his brother's kennel. Azeriel and Angel followed shortly after. Did they really see him as their leader, their alpha male? If not, then there was something wrong with their train of thought. Even if they were technically not a dog sled team anymore, he was still boss, due to the fact that he was trained for years to be top dog, and he knew how to keep his title. this was thanks to his fighting days, but he strained to keep those horrid memories from overpowering his concience.
'Who knows what'll happen if i lose controll...' The Inuit dog muttered to himself, knowing that if he couldn't control his actions then someone could get seriously hurt. Or worse. Cooper shook his head quickly to focus his concentration on releasing his brother.
Azeriel barked stiffly, and in response another loud bark was heard from inside the pen. Cooper sighed with relief, happy to know his brother was still safely inside, but he didn't know if his brother was in a good enough condition to travel in the forest. He looked around for any place to penetrate the kennel, but the only spot that could be considered a weakness was the little window beside the door that was locked.
"How in the world are we going to get him out!?"The male turned and looked at Angel with a sheepish grin.
"We're not going to get him out." He muttered with a strange, and somehow brooding voice.
"He'll get himself out." With that said, Cooper released a loud and vibrant bark -it almost seemed as though it rattled the fencing and made the window wobble-. A few seconds of silence followed, but there was a disturbance from inside the kennel. The dog inside was gaining momentum by running in a circle in the middle of the little space he had before he lunged towards the window. In an instant, the window shattered into hundreds of tiny peices before a chocolate figure crash-landed into the muddy ground. Cooper came up to his brother in a flash and helped him to his paws.
"You okay, Sam?" The brown dog nodded, but was panting heavily, unable to speak.
But before he could do anything else for his brother, Cooper's attention flung towards Shani, who stood up once more.
"Everyone, I know what you'r thinking!A group of dogs can't hunt! But we arn't a pack of dogs we have one purebred wolf in this group, and thats..thats..thats me!I'm a purebred wolf and I know how to live in the wild so I think that should help us alot."It came to no surprise to Cooper, for her knew the truth ever since she came to live with the team and the musher. He noted that she was brave enough to spill her secret out in front of everyone. The Inuit dog forced a fake grin towards the wolf, before his hard aburn gaze slid towards Isabella, who didn't look shocked. She looked pissed.
"Listen, Shani, I know that you're a freakin' wolf, but how in heck could you expect a group of dogs to take one down?! Do you even know how dangerous that is?! And even though you are a wolf, how's that supposed to help us? I'm part wolf too, and you don't see me prancing around pretending to be something that I'm not. My heritage is of wolf blood, and I'm proud of it. And I'm also not about to tell a sled dog team to go hunt in the wild, which - if you didn't already know - they have never done."Cooper was slightly taken aback by Izzy's sudden outburst of rage. Usually she was the peacemaker of the team, and now her true colors were unwraveling. Her response to Shani's unveiling was a bit harsh, but it was true. Only one wolf? That won't help but teach the basics of what it is to be a wild animal. In order to stay alive like wild wolves the dog must experience the whole that is a wolf's life. Setting the thought aside, Cooper had to think of what to do when they actually set out into the unknown.
He watched as Isabella walked off alone to the other side of the yard. He didn't even know that she was part wolf. Even with the new knowledge, Cooper didn't think any differently of her. Once he felt that Sam could hold himself up on his own four paws, Cooper trtted towards Izzy and slowly approached her when he came within five feet from behind her.
"What is wrong with me? Gosh, I'm such an idiot."The Inuit sighed inwardly before he took a seat next to her.
"Nothing's wrong with you. And you're no idiot. Sure things have been dramatic the past few minutes, but once we get out of this place everything will change. I promise." He looked at her in a sideways manner with a reassuring smile. He slowly leaned towards the female and stroked the top of her head with his chin, as if slightly cuddling her to comfort her and calm her. Feeling rather embarrassed, he quickly recoiled and cleared his throat.
"Well, um... we better that Shinxs out from her kennel now..." His face held a srious expression but his heart was beating like a metranome on steroids.
Cooper got to all fours and turned around towards the others, but looked over his shoulder towards Isabella, hoping she would follow.
