Harry Potter for me. Did you notice barely anyone liked Twilight before the movie came out? The books started in 2005. If they didn't cast Robert Pattinson/Taylor Lautner, the Twilight fandom wouldn't be so large. Harry Potter is amazing. It has werewolves, magic, mystery, romance, humour and just about everything. Now, Twilight is just... what exactly? Bella and Edward fall in love within, what, 2-3 weeks? And their love is based on Bella's scent and how hawt Edward is.

- I found New Moon weird. So Jasper is unable to control his lust for blood? How does he manage to get into high school?
- Uh, the Cullens skip school whenever it's sunny? Washington State Truancy Laws do not permit them to do that. Meyer should really do her research
- Did anyone not find Edward dislikable? Looking past his looks I mean. He stalked Bella. Some find this romantic, most find this weird. He doesn't let her see Jacob. He even admits it was because he was prejudiced and jealous He leaves Bella, and she is so distraught to the point of going off cliffs to hear his voice I'm glad most here are rather mature. It's quite the opposite on this list

Twilight is a utterly superficial series and movies. Just a bunch of fairytale creatures running around without shirts and loads of wannabe speeches "my own personal brand of heroin" geez how cheesy. The only reason people watch the movie and reads the books is because everyone else does it, group pressure. Harry Potter is a much better series and movies. I've been very fond of the movies as a child and I still am, Im planning to steal the books from my brother and read them soon and Im looking forward to it. Twilight is a big thumbs down from me

2. They never tell Charlie that Bella has died/become a vampire. Not only is this sick and unjustifed but it passed up on potential drama and better writing. Way to go, Meyer; you laziness is evident, why can't you just kill Charlie off if you can't be bothered with a father and daughter relationship? Oh, by the way, they never told him he had a granddaughter neither. What a happy scene this is playing out to be. How very senstive to people who never even get to know their maternal grandparents. Actually Charlie did find out about his granddaughter and spend alot of time with Bella after she was changed into a vampire. Jacob went over to his place and revealed what he was to Charlie and then he went to the Cullens and was brought into the world of vampires/ werewolves. After that Charlie visited Renesmee and Bella alot through out the rest of the book. Bella, Edward, Renesmee and Jacob actually all went and spent Christmas with him. WIN. I've never read the Harry Potter books, I just watch the movies. I've tried, but gah... soooo boring. The Twilight series is my favourite book series ever. Don't like it? I don't care. It must suck to be in America. I've not encountered one crazy fangirl - all the fans I know have a deeper understanding of the book and enjoy it for the themes and aspects, like me.

Pro tip: if you're going to have a go at a book, read it first.

Just because you don't like sparkly vampires doesn't mean you have to push those opinions on everyone else.

Just because you don't like sparkly vampires doesn't mean you have to push those opinions on everyone else. My points exactly. Couldn't have said it better, honestly. I've been hearing far more about the Deathly Hallows, than about Breaking Dawn, and to be honest, I think the Twilight "fans" are calming down and realizing that the movies really aren't that good(like 99% of the world's book-based movies). And as far as morals go, I have to agree that the morals in Harry Potter are far more meaningful than anything I'm picking out of Twilight. I'm just saying, Harry potter has its flaws, but overall, I think the storyline, characters, and morals/themes, are far better than anything the books or movie could cough up. And yes, I, like some other fans, weren't happy with a few things in HP(the couples being one, and also all the teen angst in the middle was a bit annoying, but they ARE teenage characters, and the son's and daughter's names were pretty stupid), and some of the movies sucked really badly, (PoA, GoF, HBP), but overall, I liked it better than Twilight. (And yes, I read them, so I can give an honest opinion.) So Harry Potter gets my vote, though I don't exactly see how they relate, except that Robert Patterson played Cedric Diggory in GoF and that they both have a HUGE fan-base, and multi-million dollar movie franchises.

Just because you don't like sparkly vampires doesn't mean you have to push those opinions on everyone else. If I may. I hate the twilight vampires. Mostly for the sparkle factor. I have my reasons. That being for I HAVE read and seen the first movie [so don't think I randomly bash because it's 'cool']. It... it was just so ridiculous. Granted with each type of vampire from different shows, movies, books, etc have their own type of vampire with different characteristics. Be it being half human, with a soul, being able to even go in the daylight, or even a weird love for numbers or being a chocoholic. The thing is, their strange qualities worked with the story and characters. Sparkly vampires? It just didn't seem to fit the 'seriousness' of the series at all... it made it seem more like a mockery, so how could we resist mocking it back?

Just because you don't like sparkly vampires doesn't mean you have to push those opinions on everyone else. *SPOILER ALERT* I expected to come on here and find a bunch of rabid Twlight fans. What a nice surprise. I'm not a big fan of Twilight, only read the first two books. And after the junk (in my opinion) I had to read in New Moon, I doubt I'll read further into the series. I liked the ending of HP. I didn't expect Harry having to sacrifice himself at all. I read that part, and I immediatly felt dread and worry. Dread for the ending, and worry for Harry, of course. I expected JK Rowling to find some way to get Harry out of that situation, but she didn't. He died. I almost teared up then and there. I loved Harry Potter since the first time I read it, and the thought that the main character was dead didn't exactly fill my with joy. Then again, I wasn't sobbing my heart out like a crazed fan. And then Harry came back, which I thought was awesome, even if a bit expected, especially after conversing with Dumbledore. Twilight though...I couldn't stand. I was excited to read it, after hearing how great it was. I was majorly disappointed. No offense to Meyer, but I think it could've been written better. And quick question; why would you date someone who wants to suck your blood out? Hot or not, that just seems cliche and unrealistic to me.

My vote's for Harry Potter. I'm so glad to see that the Twilight fad is dying down, at least where I am. Harry Potter is still extremely popular however, a club at our school is even planning a quidditch game and last year the seniors wore their graduation gowns to school as wizarding robes and had duels in the main hall.
I read all of the Twilight series and then felt like I had just wasted the last few weeks of my life. I spent most of the book thinking about the better descriptive words Meyer could've used instead of using God-like or Godly a million times. I also laughed very hard at the sparkelyness of the vampires (me and my friends have our own idea of why they sparkle, but it's probably not site appropriate). I think the only thing that kept me reading it was that my friends were obsessed with it and I wanted to know what they were talking about.
Also, just an FYI: On the news here, they called our generation the "Twilight Generation". That is completely false, Harry Potter has been way more popular for way longer. We ARE NOT the "Sparkely Vampires & Bad Writing Generation", we are the "Harry Potter Generation" if you ask me.

I'm also getting sick of twilight references being used in, other than that, perfectly good movies and/or TV shows... -_-

I've always considered this generation the "Harry Potter Generation". The first book came out when I was like 7.. Practically have grown up with the books and movies. And while I've nothing against Twilight, I'd much rather the generation I live in be known for Harry Potter.
