The worst-case-scenario is that because of Twilight people will forget about how vampires were meant to be portrayed and that kinda worries me. I mean what's next? How about we make all the terrible and evil monsters good guys and ruin their "image" too? Thanks to Twilight, what's to stop that from happening? agreed -.- and i perfer them gory. it shows their true colors. do you think Edward just walks up to a cougar and asks "Hello, Mr. Cougar! lovely day isn't it? May I drain you of your blood?"

Okay, while I have been trying to make this a topic for people that like and don't like Twilight to peacefully discuss it I will admit that I have been one-sided about how I feel about it. So in the interest of balance I'll make a list of things from Twilight and say what I do and do not like about them.
1. The change in vampire mythology: What I like: It makes people think in a different way and is relatively original. What I don't like: It changes vampires so much they are almost un-recognizable.
2. The Cullens not killing humans: What I like: Again, it's interesting for a story but it kinda has been done already What I don't like: The vampires loose a bit of their "edginess" than if they killed people.
3. The werewolf stuff: What I like: That is one of the few traditional vampire things in the story so I find that good. What I don't like: It's already been done.
4. The vampires that want to kill Bella: What I like: It preserves the "real" kind of vampire and is pretty "new" because vampires are on two different sides of kill this person or don't kill this person. What I don't like: It makes Edward look like even more of a wuss.
Please tell me what ya all think and feel free to make your own lists like this(I promise to read and enjoy them).

OK, so I loved the books. The movie was pretty good. But the subculture Twilight has brought, disgusts me.
The shirts, the jewelry, the bags, the QUOTES. It's an unhealthy obsession. I can't say I hate the series, because I love it.

I can't believe that somebody (fictional or not) would want to be in a relationship like that. I for one, think that kind of relationship is very romanic in terms of Twilight. It gives it that edge of "danger" - if you will. I don't really see how it's any different than the whole "little miss priss going out with mr. 'rough and tough "I've killed someone" bad guy'. Roi Doberwolf wrote: and i perfer them gory. it shows their true colors. do you think Edward just walks up to a cougar and asks "Hello, Mr. Cougar! lovely day isn't it? You see that that's the one time the Cullens AREN'T 'proper' and revert to their 'animal' behavior. And for all of you who say that Twilight just has a bunch of vampires that don't kill and all that crap... Did you forget about James and Victoria?? James who was bent on killing Bella - on videotape nonetheless. And Victoria who, after James is killed (by the Cullens - the "goody-toshoes" as some of you probably call them) goes to try and get revenge on Bella. And the Volturi? Honestly, you can't even TRY and tell me that Volturi are "good" by the means of which you are calling the Cullens. So don't even try and say that all the vampires in the Twilight sega are "good". Because clearly, they are all NOT "good".

@whitewolf17: For someone who said just a few posts ago that you were trying to keep things balanced, you aren't doing a very good job of it. (points to last post of yours)
First of all, as you've stated in this topic before, one main reason that the attraction between Bella and Edward is incomprehensible to some people, is because they are guys. Now, I know a small handful of boys who like the saga, but those guys are few and far between. There's absolutely no way I could ever explain why the romance of these books is so intriguing other than simply, girls like bad boys. (Not all girls do, but quite a bit, myself included.)
EDIT: Since this topic is about the movie, I'll admit the movie was a tad cheesy in some parts, but overall was extremely well made.

I am trying to be as balanced with it as I can because while I may criticize some things like the romance I do also comment on some things I think are done very well with Twilight like how there are at least some "bad-a**" vampires in it. And yes, I do know lots of girls like bad boys but Edward is not very "bad" if he was he would be like the other vampires in the story.

By Edward being "bad", I meant to add that the only reason he could be considered bad is because he has to fight his urge to kill her every second. He's constantly at war with himself because one part of him plots ways to kill her, and the other part is trying to smother his bloodlust because he loves her more than antyhing/anyone in the entire world. (Also, the plotting I'm referring to is in Edward's POV in Midnight Sun, which the first twelve chapters have been posted on Stephenie Meyer's website.)

Maybe if you actually made good standard points and tried to make an intelligent retort, that wouldn't be so. I'm sure if you actually knew something more about Twilight, you could make fine arguments of why you don't like it other than it 'ruins' how you think vampires should be/act.

Listen, I do know stuff about Twilight because I did actually read the book okay, so please lay-off. Also, this is clearly just flaming so I'm gonna end it now before it gets into a flame-war and I hope ya follow suit. Merveilleux wrote: (Also, the plotting I'm referring to is in Edward's POV in Midnight Sun, which the first twelve chapters have been posted on Stephenie Meyer's website.) Well, ya have to keep in mind that Midnight Sun might not even be made so it's not really canon yet. As for his internal struggle, It's sorta bad because he is fighting his own inner demons and I think that it gives him like a split-personality which is "bad" but is really hit-or-miss for any story.

@Roi Doberwolf: I like what ya said and ya made some very good points especially with number three. Of course ya can also add things or make other points than just the ones listed below. That's just like an example of what I think a civil and balanced critique of Twilight would be.
