yeah, probably...many people want to be a mod only to show their "power" and maybe they have no idea how to act like a mod...yes, I think it's a year that I'm here and I'd like to be a mod, of course but I'm, yeah, I'm not sure (if I'll be one) how to act...this is the problem: you must have experience and you have to be mature to be a mod.
conclusion, people can't be mods only because they want to be one...

Oh, and I absolutely can't stand members that act like a mod!! :x really!! I remember that Steet said it to someone here but my memory don't remember who -.- I don't make an example because I on't want to offend anyone...

-pinches self- I don't understand this concept at all. (I understand the subject of this topic just fine, I mean why people think they should automatically become a mod because they've been here a year or more.)

First of all, it's the Internet, popularity should not matter. Second of all, I don't think many of As members realize how hard the job of a moderator is. It's not all aout having the power to ban someone, or about locking topics whenever they see fit to do so. It is not only those things, but helping Steet keep the site going, which means being peacemaker in flame wars, hopefully preventing flame wars from even erupting, and so so much more. Yes, some of us may not like a few mods, but try imagining yourself in their shoes. Maybe they don't know how else to handle a situation, and they do something not everyone agrees with. There is a tremendous amount of pressure and responsibility put on a moderator's shoulders. So, I suggest you all think twice the next time you criticize a mod. (Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying no criticism of mods should be allowed. Not at all my friends, I'm all for freedom of speech. I just think outright accusing moderators of not doing their jobs right is completely rude and stupid on all accounts.)

Well, I guess I'll say more if anyone responds to this comment of mine.

Yeah, I've been know to critisize a mod for actions that I thought were dumb. But you typing this and me looking back on it now, I think it was probably the right think to do. I feel silly. True.

Don't worry, there is always time to be chosen as a moderator. If I was that, I would not know what to do, but it gets nervous.

Not impossible but you're not likely to be chosen as one

I personally would not want to be a mod.

I know it would take more effort than I might be able to give, and I also haven't been a member long enough to get to know any of the mods or Steet. Being a mod would probably require knowing how to use a computer and this site well and I'm terrible with computers.

All I know is that even if I ever were asked I would most likely turn down the offer.

I'll admit, I have asked to be a Staff Member once but not as a Mod (Even if I do want to be one) I just noticed a month ago that Balt Source works differently than the other RP Form I'm in (I'm a Staff member in it not a mod) It works differently than the way Steet has it here so Sorry for bothering you UK.

And I agree with you, I've read a few of them and it gets really annoying when people repeat the same thing and beg *sigh*.

Well, asking to be a moderator is like asking for control.
You won't be given it for free - you have to show that you are responsible.

Most of these people (if not all) who beg and cry to be moderators will NEVER be in charge of anything internet-wise.

...And even if they do end up being a moderator of a site sometime or, hell, even a webmaster - they probably won't like it after about two weeks of having that 'control' that they had whined about so many times before.

Being a moderator / webmaster isn't as easy as it seems.
- Things need to be organized and controlled in a descent way, and most people who ask to be moderators just don't realize it.
I, myself, am a webmaster of a my own site (a work-in-progress), and already I can see that it's not going to be a walk in the park.

Members get these crazy ideas about becoming staff and immediately becoming popular, but it really doesn't work that easily...

I definately agree. I, myself, am a Webmaster of my own site and I need to go on it every day and fix problems. I don't have as much members yet, and I have most of the site in complete control, but it's definately a challenge. Heck, I even needed personal help from one of my friends. It's a very complicated job, and isn't something to mess around with.

(P.S. if you're curious by what site I own, go here. Now some of you might think this was a peice of cake to make, but it took me weeks, almost a month, to get my site that way. It was also extremely challenging, and I even messed up a few times. I even had to restart the whole thing once because I somehow took out everything and had to start from scrath all over again. There's more details to prove what I mean. Once you join there's a chat box and many of my updates are told in the "Announcements and Updates" Section.)

What does it like to be a moderator? I just want to ask that one because I want to see what you have to do.
