Okay guys, seriously, this is getting ridiculous. We have more than enough moderators here on the site. True, when the site first opened it was only Steet who was in control of everything but he, like EVERYONE here, has a life. He has the right to live it which is why he created moderators to start with, to help him run the site and keep the peace when he's not here. And yes, things have changed in the past few years but, hey, that's life.

So, for the love of all things, just deal with it and be glad that there are mods on the site. If there weren't, do you honestly think that things would be as they are now? No. Those who became mods when Steet chose them are no longer here for many different reasons. Reasons I will not state here. And the mods we do have now do the best job they can in monitoring the stuff that goes on the site and how the members interact but, remember, mods are not gods or absolutely perfect. They lives just as much as any of us and they have a right to live them and separating the personal stuff from the job is sometimes hard but they work at it, each and every one of them.

Any mod that is demodded, there are probably personal reasons and for it and it is NO ONE's business except that mod and that mod alone. Most people are immature but that immaturity dies with time as the body grows up and the mind expands itself to new horizons. Who are any of you to say, 'this mod isn't doing his or her job the way they should so they should be demodded' yadda, yadda, yadda. Well, sorry guys, but that's the way life is. Most mods cannot keep track of this site 24/7 you know and to those mods who did accept the position, Steet and Togo felt that that person would be best fit for the job. They choose the mods as wisely as they can.

So, please, people, quit bothering them for their 'incompetency' of choosing some 'bad' mods. If you're so disappointed in the way things are run here, then, here is a small suggestion but I won't address it as you know what I'm referring to.

Exactly.

Its my pet-peeve when these people complain about the Mods who volunteer to try to help them! They have lives too, you know.

While I agree no more mods are needed at all this site DOES have a problem with inactive mods.

Obviously mods have lives, we're only people at a computer too but too many mods just don't do what they're supposed to do and some without telling the rest of the mods, they just don't come on or if they do it's once every now and then.

It's fine if a mod can't get online as normal and makes a quick post in the mod forum or on the mod box saying "sorry guys, I can't get on my comp much atm, xxx is in the way right now, I'll be back on as soon as I can".

Sorry but mods hiding behind "well we're only people, we DO have lives you know" is just not acceptable.
I do remember when I was made a mod and one of the 'conditions' was I was active a lot on the site consistently.

I also don't agree that members shouldn't be 'whining' about mod activity. If a member(s) is simply complaining saying "mods are rubbish! ]< I could do it backwards!!" then it's pointless and basically spam and just whining but no one ever said members couldn't take an active interest in the site they enjoy visiting and it's running with the interest of making sure it continues to run.

I don't think it IS a 100% admin and other mods issue, not least with fan sections on the main site, how would we mods KNOW that one particular section isn't updated properly if members don't tell us?
If members are concerned they should say so and mods shouldn't get 'defensive' over it as there's no point in that.

UK, yes, its true some, only some, mods don't report to the mod box when a section is updated and they need to be reminded of that, but, maybe they feel... cornered to do so. It probably makes them feel like they're at work, which, in effect, they are but even so... Look, this is hard for me to address so I'll just leave it at that.

And the whole we lives thing is true and in a crazy sense should be accepted in one form or another and not just dismissed completely otherwise, we won't allow them to tell their side of the story, which is wrong on so many levels.

When I became a mod, I too was told to report to the mod box, which I do. And those mods, who don't, is it really their fault? Answer if you will, but I will not. Call that stubbornness or something else, agree or disagree, I don't really care.

Yes, the members should be actively interested in the affairs of the site but this borders on complete butting in and not taking a hint of letting a topic such as this go. And if members are concerned, yes they should say so but in the moment realize that complaining is not going to help and for the mods being 'defensive' well, that just happens, doesn't it?

I doubt it. I know people forget, I have before aswell but I'm not on about mods forgetting to say "updated fan art" or something, we can still see that by the logs if needed, I'm talking about mods who are no longer active or seldom active that give no reason why they are.

Accepted yes but not as an excuse. Simply being away for a week or two, coming back and saying "sorry for inactivity guys, life 'n all" is fine but if a mod's life gets in the way so much that they're hardly on BS or no on at all then they should 'resign' their mod position for an active mod to take their place and keep the site running.

I remember when I had "life problems" (which I won't go into here) and was not on BS for over a year, in the months I was gone my account was demodded for the benefit of the site which is what should happen. Steet made me a mod again when I got my connection back and could be online normally again.

Techinically, it is their fault. OK, they forgot, they do remember soon enough and could easily post a short message then, not hard.

I don't see this as "butting in" at all and this topic should not be 'dropped'.
I find it quite refreshing to see that at least SOME members here DO still care about this place and it remaining running. We should be listening to the members of the site we're supposed to care for, their suggestions, their concerns.
This would be "butting in" if this member had made a rant saying "The mods are rubbish! None of them do their jobs! Sort it out!!! D<" but they're not, at all, they're pointing out a problem they've noticed with the site and perhaps simple questions did not get an answer?
Also to consider some members may not want to PM a mod and ask about a matter like this for fear of getting a warning? I know they wouldn't for doing that, you know that but perhaps they don't.

...I find that post of yours Brown quite disheartening...

I think I mentiond this (Can't remember). But also, He has only posted 12 messages, now too be honest, 2006 is rediculous, ok I could understand a month (If he had a technical problem) But two years of no logging onto the forum is sickning. Anyway, I feel the other site admin 'Wolf.(somthing)' should replace him in the forums, at least I think he would be more active, probably alot more active..

Actually Steet removed Zekee from the staff because of said inactivity, I think he just forgot to take him off the list on the forums.
The only other admin is Wolf.250 on the French side, the staff list on the main site is way more reliable. ;]

oh ok, thanks for clearly that up UK. but baltorocks, if Wolf.250 if an admin on the FRENCH forums, most likely they can't speak english, or they woulda been added as admin to the english version becuase it definately more demanding than the french version forums.

I didn't read everything, but :
We ALREADY removed the inactive mods one or two months ago. I did it by refering to the other mods and by checking the mods logs. Some mods may not be very active (they don't show up on forums, site etc...) BUT they are doing their job.
I still think the best option would be to allow submitted fanarts, fanfics etc... to be validated straight away (without being checked) if the member is a trusted member (if the member has sent 50 fanarts and always have been validated, why should the mods bother to look at their new drawings when there is a 99% probability it will be accepted? And at the very least, the "report to a mod" option is there for a reason)

I agree with you 100% Steet. Thank you so much for clairifying. I remember you clearing out the inactive mods and that you did, in fact, refer to the others.

I would say more, but I won't.

Or maybe he just cant be botherd to take him off the staff list on the forums. But still, I feel tha Steet should elect another English administrator, because to me, I feel he is finding managing the English site on his own is a bit of a handful.
