I'd point out that most of those choices have no moral implications behind them. But all said and done, it's not worth arguing about it in this case.

I fail to see how liking Steele over Balto has "moral implications behind them". It's a bloody cartoon about fictional characters. (Let's be real, pretty much the only thing this movie kept from the 'true story' was that a canine named Balto was leading the team when the medicine got to Nome. That's it).

It's not so much the preference as the reasoning behind it. For example, Starcatcher asserts that Balto was "whiny" (which I can't say as I see any basis for in the movie itself). Her assertion that Steele is "FTW" comes across as arbitrary, seeing as she would not provide any particular reason why he would be likeable. If it was that he was Balto's opposition, or the typical assertion that he's just "all that and a bag of chips," Then this implies some pretty shallow priorities; i.e. it would suggest that those things are more important than morality. It's not quite as much a matter of personal preference, as, to borrow Starcatcher's analogy, coffee versus mocha, because neither coffee nor mocha can duly be labaled as good or evil.

I realize that one's preferences in fiction as opposed to reality are not always directly correlated, but it's still rather crass to approve of a child-killer, even a fictional one, just because they are "cooler" than the hero they oppose.

That's not a reason for liking Steele, that's a (dubious) reason for disliking Balto. I asked why Steele is "for the win". And like DT said, Balto didn't whine at all so I'm not sure where you're getting that from.

Really? That's mature. You still haven't answered my questions, so I'm going to assume you just don't have an answer. I mean it's already been pointed out to you more than once that Steele was going to condemn the entire town of Nome to death, is that why he's "for the win"? Would you feel the same way if he were going to do it to you? I'd be happy to have a discussion about it with you, but not if you're not grown up enough to do it without name calling.

Please drop the subject, Starcatcher and DT seemed to drop it, there is no need to prolounge it.

Thank you, Question. I think editing a few posts to remove certain mild profanities would also be a good idea.

My personal opinion on the original topic (which was....hold on...oh, that's right) is that Balto truly WAS selfless. He didn't think of himself even ONCE anytime, always thinking of Rosie. Keep in mind, not thinking of Jenna, but of Rosie.

For a minute i thought i saw you write "Balto Is Selfish and i thought "oh my God!" But the i read closer and i was like ,"Oh, Thank God!"

Well, Balto risked his own to save Rosies life; that's seems pretty selfless.

"Indeed", Indeed. Dragon-tamer, you remind me of a friend i met at Laguna Beach who was from East Ukraine, he always said indeed.

Though it seems that in Balto 2 he didn't care much for others, he obviously did in Balto 3, when he risked his life to save Duke's.

How so? He was willing to leave everything behind to take care of a pack of wolves he hardly knew and some of which didn't even like him.

...not to mention risking his neck the whole quest in general facing a trickster fox, dangerous wolverines, and a menacing bear. All to bring his idiot offspring home.
