When I, Tani and Charlita asked to invest in TLK source more they were mean to us and told us to leave the site. We DIDN"T bush Balto. We were just asking Steet to invest in TLK source and he didn't refuse to do that. The opposite: He was angry at the mods and at the others who were mean to us. We weren't asking you to leave the website. We were simply stating that until those who likes The Lion King takes initiative, not just making ranting topics and suggestions that bear no fruit at all, TLKS would be less prioritized. I do agree some of us... not excluding myself did react a bit unorthodox... But we weren't telling you to leave the site (in fact, that's the last thing we want), but we told you that if you wanted a website that was already actively being prioritized and with somewhat active members, you should go to lionking.org. If you don't do anything, but complain about how little TLKS is being updated, nothing will happen. We simply told you to do something about it yourself if you wanted TLKS to expand further. These two websites are driven by fans who add content. If you don't add content, the website will stay in the past.

For instance, I talked about suicides once and he ordered me to stop and when I asked why it's not allowed he answered me: "Stop now or you're banned". After awhile another girl started to talka about suicides and he didn't remark her. It's not fair!! First, What's the big deal of talking about suicides? Sadly they are part of the things which happen in the world. Secondly, He remarked only to me! First of all, if you think someone breaks the rules or disrespects you in anyway inapropriate to the site you can report them. Second: A mod can't simply read your mind and decide if the suicides you talk about will go into gore and hurt other members. Sometimes "better safe than sorry" isn't a bad thing. About "someone else not being told not to": someone may have complained about you AND there isn't a robotic scanner reading every single word you say. Moderators aren't robots that read holes punched into paper. Moral judgement comes into play and of course sometimes a moderator may seem to over react, but no single person can know ALL the members that visit this site and predict their intent of for example "suicide talk". Suicides, are, of course a part of life but lengthy and provocative suicide talks (which is in all means violence) that become disruptive to other members (I'm not saying you did any of this) aren't meant to be a part of a Balto site meant for all ages and types of people. The job of a moderator is to protect members (to the extent possible) and to provide an environment fit for a site's members. Of course all people think differently of different topics, but part of being part of a community is respecting these differences for the greater good of the people you interact with.

Sadly they are part of the things which happen in the world. Secondly, He remarked only to me! Allow me to be frank, but unless you tell us the names of the moderators in question, we cannot do anything about it. I have the impression that you're overreacting a little bit, and I remember being there at that time when you were told to stop talking about whatever you were talking about then. The moderator didn't tell you specifically, but he told the entire shoutbox. If you were specifically put down by that moderator, it would be because you refused to stop when he asked the members of the SB at the time. Otherwise, we will never speak generally to one person, unless there is only one person doing it. In any case, this also varies about how one talks about a certain matter. If the talks from that girl was "I don't like suicide" and you said "I don't like suicides because it's stupid, bloody and very cowardish!" (do mind, I am not stating you actually said this, I am simply using a rethorical example), there is a slight difference. Your post would be poked by us, because it goes too much into detail, while the other one's wouldn't as long as he/she kept it at that and didn't go further into detail about it. And yes, we do make mistakes, some of them can only be blamed by inexperience, some only because we are humans. But the "we are just humans" excuse is getting less and less valid. We are learning as good as we can, but whenever we learn something, someone else starts whining about something else, and in our attempt to adapt to keep that group of members happy, another group will whine about us for not being so strict/being stricter, and so on. To be rather honest, our job is not easy, and I have only seen little help being directed towards us. This will be my last reponse to this topic, because everything I had on my heart has been said.

If you refuse to give me the name of the mod(s) or member(s) in question, I can only assume it never happened. To start an investigation, we require some to start from (like a name or something), however without any of it, an investigation cannot be done. We can't just randomly start accusing one another with basically nothing to take initiative of.

Outlaw wrote: If I were Gold Kitty I wouldn't give out the names either. Why? Because I can almost guarentee that either you or somebody else will tell that mod/those mods, and in an attempt to get revenge, GK will be banned. Not to mention flamed by the other mods and some members also. You can 'assume it didn't happen' all you want, but I have also seen it happen quite a few times, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Oh, I wouldn't have to worry about that if I were gold kitty, because she's got me on her side when/if she gives out the name. I won't let any mod ban someone in revenge (trust me, fair is fair and I can be really furious sometimes), and I know how to use the unban option (besides, I doubt any of the mods are THAT immature). I consider msyelf a fair moderator, and would like to keep it that way. And about the flaming stuff; that is why we have PM's.

However atleast a few are very honest and are on how to say "no man's land" as in independent in their job. However, who am I to tell you I or anyone else is honest although it's the truth. Look at it this way: if you decide to tell and suddenly disappear plenty will have seen this topic and there will be an uproar. And if some "mod" dares decide to ban you in their best interest, it would be very stupid. This is after all a Balto site, not Soviet Russia.

HrryNrmn wrote: This is in response to the "Blaming the Mods" topic that's on here. I think it gets right to the source of the problem. No, not that people blame the mods too much, but that certain mods will brook no dissent when it comes to their opinions.
I don't blame the mods, in fact, I don't think they're strict enough when it comes to dealing with chronic troublemakers.
But to come in the forum and say something like it's the will of God himself and then lock the topic to prevent any dissent is downright autocratic. You're not a tin-horn dictator, and BaltoSource is not your own personal banana republic. That's what makes people angry. Not that mods ban people, but the fact that they descend from on high to make pronouncements and then don't justify them in the slightest. Actions need to be justified, not simply propped up with, "Well, I said so, end of story!" In the past, I've seen mods who've cussed at people in the forums, made fun of members in the shoutbox, and generally comported themselves in a way inconsistent with being a moderator on BaltoSource. Were these mods reprimanded? No. Were they banned? Oh, no! Did they have their mod status revoked? No sir. They were simply free to go along their merry way.
As to the 'we're only human, we make mistakes' idea, well, there certainly seem to be an awful lot of mistakes being made. With great power comes great responsibility. Mods can't make the same number of mistakes that users do, because they're mods. They're supposed to be the high standard, not just another member who can ban other members at the drop of a hat. Mistakes need to be eliminated, not simply brushed under the rug with kiddy-cussing and arbitrarily locked forum topics. If a mod or mods can't stop making mistakes, then perhaps they don't need to be a mod anymore. I can't thank you enough for posting this thread, for this is something that has bothered me almost since the VERY DAY I ever arrived here at the site!!! I ESPECIALLY agree with you on the cussing/inappropriate language in the shoutbox, because almost EVERY SINGLE TIME I EVER visit that box, it happens both to me AND around me as a whole CONSISTENTLY, and if I ever speak out against them for "not practicing what they preach", guess who gets reprimanded??? ME, and I get ganged up on by virtually ALL of them, too!!!!!! Personally, I think that after so much time as being a Mod/Supervisor (EXCEPT for Steet, of course), we should all be allowed to partake in a democratic-style election for who we'd like to "elect"/"re-elect" as a new Mod/Supervisor from the list of new, "campaigning" Mod wannabes every-so-often on the site (think every 2-3 months or so)!!!!! What do you all think of THAT brilliant, little idea right there, now??? -Charlie.
