I don't know why people are getting so mad about this. Why do you think they made so many LBT sequels? Just for the money? Or to see how many sequels they can make before they drive people to riot? No. Kids actually LIKED the LBT movies, so they kept making them, and you know what? They made them well (except for 5, 6, and 7, in my opinion).
And kids obviously like them enough to want to see them as a Saturday morning cartoon. And if they get sick of it, then Universal will probably hafta do something else.
But even so, why is everyone so mad about this if they don't like the LBT series? It's not that hard to not watch (I, personally, liked the LBT series as a kid, and I still like them, but I don't watch them anymore) and if they made as many Balto sequels as LBT sequels, you'd hate Balto too.

*nods* Well noted.
I mean, I'll watch some of the LBT films (mainly the first five, and a couple of the newer ones), but other than that, it's getting a bit overdone (like with the hatred of the different breeds of dinos - longnecks, sharpteeth, three-horns, etc. Littlefoot and his gang have overcome this (with exception of Cera, who I think will never change fully) with every adventure they have had so far - what's left to be done except for them to grow up, make families of their own, and then get killed off by the meteor of DOOM. End of story.).
And Cat is right: If Balto had 12 sequels, we'd start to hate them as much as we hate the (still-growing) LBT series. Maybe there'd be a few that would still be loyal to the continuing destruction of the Balto series (wrong choice of words probably, but I think it works here - more sequels destroy the spirit of the original; I think this is why most series stop at a trilogy.). Who knows?

I guess how the others posters tell it, it would be the same for balto if reversed (Balto being this huge series,), kinda ironic. As for the story, I guess they have evrything expect having to face reality and growing up. Finally, kids like LBT? That explains why it is more popular than Balto......

catwhohas14tails wrote: It's actually quite obvious that LBT is more popular than Balto. The fact that the characters are kids in LBT attracts children. And the backgrounds and characters are very very colorful. Balto isn't a kid, he's an adult, so kids can't really relate to him that well. (And yes, the fact that the sequels were bad probably didn't help Balto's popularity either) And there's only so much color you can fit into a setting like Nome Alaska
So there is more for kids? but which one is has more quality to it? Balto or Lbt? (Hence quality or quantity)

I'd say that LBT has more quality than any Balto series. Because the dinosaurs adventures actually endanger their lives and keep it interesting The storylines seem more thought out too, I dont know why. And they stay VERY close to the original style, which is not an easy task, if you ask me (those characters are pretty darn detailed).

It can't die after it's done so well as to even get to twelve movies XD Kids like it THAT much and with good reason too, I thought the 12th movie rocked. Almost as much as the first one. It was still a few steps below, but it was still good.

I wasn't sure if you were really ironic or not, until you said that the 12th rocked while it's not even out...

A tv series now eh? I'd like to see how it's going to differ from the 10+ movies.
Are they ever going to run out of ideas?

I personally think there's a dramatic difference between appealing to childern and actually good. If in the Balto sequels, Aleu and Kodi were young puppies instead of teenagers, would children have liked them more? Almost definitely. Would we think they were better? No. It would be very unrealistic and all the more childish. The reason the LBT movies bugged me so much was that they go on all kinds of journeys, get into all kinds of life-threatening situations, and solve every problem by the end.

You have to also remember that when the LBT characters were in danger, they made the point that they were in danger (I.E. screaming, and ESPECIALLY the music made the scene feel alot more threatening [in balto 3, the river scene for example. they played JAZZ???])
And since alot of you point out that the Balto movies are for kids and that "there's a dramatic difference between appealing to childern and actually good" AND since there are a heck of alot more LBT sequels than Balto (which, I'M guessing the kids liked the LBT sequels more than the Balto sequels) one can only assume that the LBT sequels are better than the Balto sequels (even if they're both good in their own little way, LBT obviously has more good points than bad, when according to many many MANY people was the exact opposite case for either Balto sequel). And I believe it.
(I've done my reviews on the Balto sequels many times, I won't do it an umpteenth time) I'm also gonna point out that there's alot more one can do with dinosaurs than one can do with dogs.
