Wolf Quest was a big let down, especially coming off the heels of a movie like Balto (first one).
Now the idea of the movie sounded good on paper, but...fell down flat on it's face.
First off, the characters from the First where not played to the fullest. It even felled like Balto didn't care about anything around him. And the new cast of characters didn't make it better (ALEU as well for the others, felt very one sided.)
Now I understand the film makers where trying to put new elements in to the film, and at the same time try not to make the same type of DTV with that same type of felling. Now the "magic element' did take away from the movie. It was over-done too much and it fellt like it was the only thing that was driving the sences and the movie for the most part. They could have had the magic in there, but show less of it and dont make it fell like it's over shadowing. We know the magic is a key point to the story, so make it low-key and leave it at that (less is more).
I think the main problem of Wolf Quset was that the film makers where trying to make a big shift with Balto from the First movie that had a lot of elements (action/adventure/some comedy/little spiritual), to a whole feeling (spiritual). But Wolf Quest is so lose, that even the sences don't feel or mach up to together. ( At some sences I was like "what the hell does this have to do with anything? It's so out of place")
But a good example on how some one made a shift like this work, was The Beatles. When they made
The White Album it was so....alienated...so..different from there pervious work, I really didn't know what to think of it at first. But since it was so new...and different it was great, but because of one thing: they took the time with it and worked with the material. But in case with Wolf Quest, it was rushed.
The Music of Wolf Quest was good, I was a bit surprise by how good it really was, a lot better then your average DTV Soundtrack.
The Ending was....
I have all ready covered that with a other post
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71&p=730636#p730636In the end, Wolf Quest was a disappointment. But at lest we had Wings of Change to make up Wolf Quest.
Check out the soundtrack when you can
