from experience, i know that pitbulls are not good pets : example
1. a "pet " pitbull that had been brought up to a dog from a pup , was playing with a 2yr old and out of nowhere attacked the child maiming and tearing the childs arm off ...that was in an IOWA news paper!! THATS A DOCUMENTED FACT!
EXAMPLE #2
A "Pet " pitbull , that had the same owner since it was a pup , one day turned on its owner and attacked leaving the owner near death , it went straight for the owners throat!!! that was in a nebraska news paper ....another FACT ~!!

and the list goes on!!! you can have your opinions , as can i , if you do your studies, as i HAVE , you will realize that pitbulls are BRED for this since ...forever , is it the dogs fault...??? God no !!! is it the fault of the irresponsible person who owns them>???? YES!!! and as i said before these are my opinions that i am intitled to have !!! just because you dont agree with them doesnt mean mine are any less valid ... or true !!! i accept your opinion for what it is ....YOUR opinion...im only asking that instead of insulting me , you accept my opinion for what it is ...MY opinion!!! there really doesnt need to be a fight ....maybe just a discussion!!

Aluewolf15 - Honey, just because something is in the newspaper, it does NOT mean it is accurate or true. For instance, I once read in a paper that a 18 year old girl was raped but I knew the girl personally and knew that she had a mental illness and said it for attention. I know that for a fact.

You also need to understand that just because a newspaper says A SINGLE FACT (ie that a dog bit or killed someone) doesn't mean you should start assuming things and call them facts. Maybe the dog had been beaten by it's owner and thus lunged when felt threatened. Maybe it was abused by other people. Maybe the dog had rabies or something that screwed it's mind up. I agree that you are entitled to your opinion, but don't expect people to take your opinion seriously unless you get educated on the topic.

Back to the original topic, if we ban pitballs then irresponsible owners will just find another dog to breed. And will we then have to ban those?

I think where people buy their dogs have a large part of receiving an agressive pitbull. If you bought a pitbull from a reputable breeder then you will not likely have a lot of agressive instinct as reputable breeders wouldn't breed an overly-agresive pitbull. People buy from backyard bredders, or petstores (which usually come from puppy mills - BAD BAD BAD) and have no guarentees to it's genetic history. As well as many many people get a puppy not fully understanding the work needed to raise a dog properly. Pitbulls have a dominant nature and need special handling - many people don't realize that.
