"Um, yeah," Rose said. She had forgotten how fast gossip traveled and got to these two. "We've actually been with her all day."

"Oh!" Dixie said, ruffling her fur. "And what did they say?"

"They were really excited to see her," Rose said truthfully. "Especailly Dad."

"I guessed that, he missed her so much." said Sylvie, she might of been a gossip and a bit vain but she geniuenly cared for her friends, she always had agreed with Jenna about Balto, she actuelly refused to believe some gossip, particually if she'd seen it with her own eyes, like the good Balto tried to do. "You're father is such a nice dog, Jenna was very lucky."

"Did Aleu come all this way just to for her father's birthday?" asked Sylvie, having forgotten. "That's so sweet." she said, smiling. "You kids are such good pups, when I get a man, I hope we have such wonderful kids."

"I;m sure you will," Dixia said to Sylvie, mostly to shut her up. Dixie wanted to know more about where Rose and her siblings were going. "So, Rose, where exactly are you going to get Balto's gift?"

Rose acted as if she was surprised that dixie had heard her and she was caught. "Well, um, about that." Rose smiled metally at her actressing skills. She hadn't had much use for them lately. "Well, actually," she changed her voice to a whisper, "We're going up to White Mountain to see if we can find anything specail enough. But don't tell anyone. We want it to be a complete surprise." Don't tell anyone was the key thing to say to make sure everyone in town knew.

Sylvie smiled, that defiently meant the world would know. "Well I think that's sweet." she said. "You're very nice kids." she said. "Oh my!" she squeeled. "We didn't get Balto anything!" she said. "Oh what she we get him? Think he'd like a diamond collar?" she asked, Sylvie's family was rich, so she had a few of those.

"Maybe," Dixie said, happier now that she had something to talk about. "I;m sure we'll find something." She hurried off in the direction of Sylvie and Dixie's houses (they live next door to each other) calling over her shoulder, "See ya, Rose! And good luck!"

Rose gave her friends a worried looked but called after them, "Bye!" She waited till they were around the corner before laughing out loud.
