Nickel waited a moment, staring at the water. Then with one quick swipe he whack the small fish, throwing it onto the shore.

"Good job! Now go get it and make sure it stops moving!" Shane instructed.

Nickel quickly pounced on it, picking it up in his small jaws.

Shane chuckled at the sight.
"Good job! You're a natural!"

Nickel put the fish down, standing on it even though it already ceased to move.
"That's so cool.." he muttered with a tail wag.

Shane nodded, then almost froze. He talked!
"Yeah, it's pretty cool," he said cooly. "Wanna try again?"

"Yea.." he replied, his little voice was very kid-like and fit his shy appearance. He looked back down at the water, wagging his tail.

SHane smiled wider, he talked to him. Not Rochelle, of Radium, but him. Man, did Shane feel great.
"Okay, well just do that again!"

"Is the water deep?" he asked. "Could i swim in it?" Nickel talked to Shane like he'd always been speaking, he didn't hesitate, he just let the words come out.

"Stay close to the bank, i-..Here, i'll come in too." Shane said, wading into the water, and laying down. "Dont go past me, alright?"

"I won't, i promise." he said, slowly easing into the water with excitement.

Shane nodded, and lapped up some of the cool water as he watched Nickel wade around.

Nickel laughed and played in the water, staying close to Shane though. "This is so fun!" he yipped.

Shane laughed, and splashed Nickel.
"Sure is kiddo.""

Nickel laughed and jumped on top of Shane.
"Hey.." he asked. "How come you and uncle Tony were all mad earlier..?"
