Shay could easily tell he wasn't serious, and laughed. She stood up, wiping off her dirty palms on her equally dirty jeans. She really did need a shower, and soon.

Shay's face took on a hurt expression, but her fiery temper refused to keep silent. "Listen, Viktor! I don't know what has your pants in a twist, but untwist them or something. I only asked if you were alright! You look like you've stayed awake for a week, rolling in mud, then run over by a dozen trucks! I'm worried, okay! I don't know where to go, where we are, and I would kill myself if anything happened to either of you!" She had gotten into Viktor's face throughout this, her finger poking him in the chest. Breathing hard, she stepped backwards.

Shay immediatly felt remorse and alarm. Viktor didn't often cry, not that she had seen. And she had really only meant to make him apologize. Not burst into tears. She sat next to him hesitantly, putting an arm around him.
