"Speaking of which," Kodi said, looking at the sky. The sun was high, about afternoon. "We have to go get ready for the big day," he finished. If they started toward Anchorage soon, they could get there before sun down. That gave them two full days to find Scout and convince him to return to Nome, and a half a day to get back to Nome in time for Balto's birthday.

Good excuse, Alue, Saba thought as she was turning around to head away from the boat. "So, we'll soon you soon," she said.
"Yeah, see ya around," Rose said, taking a few steps back.
"Bye, Dad," Kodi said, walking backwards away from the boat. He turned around and began walking off.
