Eh, I thought a few people wouldn't understand that.
It's more of a teasing joke between the British and French, so I would doubt that the average American would "get it".

oh....kay....moving on.
A blond, a brunette and a redhead are stuck on a remote desert island. They see land a few miles away. The redhead decides to swim the distance. She gets a quarter of the way there, and drowns. The brunette decides to see if she could do it. She manages to get a third of the way there and drowns. The blond decides to see how far she can get. She swims halfway there, gets tired, and swims back.
