Jenna nodded. "You have a good point there."
"I know, but I don't tihnk I should have. And Cachen was upset anyway..." she leaned close so Cachen wouldn't hear "And you only said what we all felt."
Kodi smiled, hearing his friend. "I'm glad."
Kai shrugged, glancing back at Mr. Simpson. "I tihnk he's gonna stop us soon."

Balto pulled to a stop as Samson ordered them to. "Well I think we're making good time." he said.
"Thanks sis, I was just guilty, I know we both hate seeing poor Cachen cry." said Lena.
Fang nodded. "How far do you think we've gone?"
"You were right." said Cachen, resting his paws.

Kodi shruged, resting his cramped paw. "I'd say seven...eight...nine miles at most. But we can't be blamed, no one can."
Jenna halted as soon as her line began to stretch. "For the first day, and being late at that."
Tai nodded "You're welcome, Lena. And I know, we all hate it, those big eyes and that little face..!" she covered her own face to chase away the picture.
Kai nodded. "Had a feeling, he might not want to risk going further at night, we were out of Mom's old territory 3 miles ago. Who knows which rival pack this is."
Mr. Simpson sighed, muttering to himself as he un did the lines on each dog. "We could'va covered twice as much if we didn't leave so late."

Balto nodded. "Great time." he said. "And tommarrow we can get a full day in." he said.
"Something wrong with your paw?" asked Fang.
"He'll probably light a fire to keep them away." said Cachen.
Lena nodded. "He's just cute." she said. "I'm going to see if I can find a mouse to eat." he said. She looked around and poked her head in a bush. A second later she let out a yip and her tail went straight up in the air. IT wouldn't be long before Tai realized what had happened when a terrible stench reached her nose, danger prone little Lena had gotten skunked.

"A...fire?" asked Kai, head tilted as Mr. Simpson took his harness off.
Tai's eyes widened and watered all at once as Lena yipped and the horrible stench came. She coughed. "Ugh! Lena, you didn't!!"
Jenna nodded "I'll be thankful for that, I'm not even tired." she gave a cough as she caught the smell.
Kodi nodded "It cramped a little bit, I'll be ok." he turned at the yelp and all the fur on his body stood on end.

Balto nodded but then caught wind of the stink himself. "Phew!" he said, putting his paw over his nose.
Cachen nodded. "Don't worry, its just a little one to keep us warm and keep wild animals away." he said and sniffed the air. "Eww." he said, putting his paw over his nose.
Fang nodded but then heard the yelp and turned only to be greeted by a terrible stench. "Oh yuck!" he said, putting his paw over his nose.
Lena staggered out of the bush and fell on her stomach, covering her nose. "I got skunked. Pu."

Tai nodded. "We can smell that Lena."
Kai shivered at the stench, eyes closed.
Jenna laid down, putting one paw over her nose. "Oh, gross." she murmured, ears pinned back. "no matter how many times, they still manage to make it stink."
Kodi walked over to his daugther. "Do your eyes hurt at all Lena?"
Mr. Simpson held his nose and turned, looking over at Lena. He couldn't help but chuckle a bit.

Balto laid down, paw still over his nose. "I know." he said with a chuckle. "But you can't be a dog unless you've been skunked at least once." he said. "The first time I got skunked was with a family of skunks all at once." he said. "What about you?"
"Lena..." said Cachen to Kai. "Normally its you."
Fang watched. "How do they do it Kodi? No matter where we are, they always run into a skunk or porcupine."
Lena whimpered. "Yes papa." she said, the spray had gotten in her eyes to. "It got in my mouth to...yuckie." she said, getting skunked in the mouth made it extrahard to get rid of the smell.

"Uh..." Jenna blinked, sitting up. "It was a baby and I was a pup but..Ooh, my house spun for two weeks!"
Kai nodded. "I know, but i never got sprayed."
Kodi chuckled "Maybe it's a conspiracy to drive us all mad!" hre said sarcastically.
Kodi nodded, placing a paw on her shoulder "It's okay, Lena, just let the musher handle it, here he comes."
Mr. Simpson, wearing glaves came over and held Lena with both hands, a wet cloth at his side. "Okay okay." he said reassuringly.

"Yeah, most people don't know they can spray before they can walk." said Balto, keeping his paw firmly on his nose.
"What about two weeks ago?" asked Cachen, smirking but keeping his nose covered.
Fang went over to Tai. "This happen a lot?" he asked, putting his paw back on his nose.
Lena looked at Mr. Samson. She whimpered at the stinging in her eyes and kept her paws over her nose. Her eyes were bloodshot and looked very painful, her vision was blured. "It hurts papa...and stinks!"

Kai blushed, looking at his brother "Huh?!" he looked away embarassedly.
Kodi nodded, sitting beside his daughter "I know, I know, it hurts.."
Tai nodded. "to Kai though, not Lena..." she sighed lightly.
Mr. Simpson nodded, grabbing her face gently and beginning to wash out Lena's eyes.

"Yeah, you know what makes this worse though?" asked Balto. "We're in the wilderness at night, there is no way to give Lena a tomato juice bath till morning. at least not without her freezing to death because it has to be cold when you do it, Samson probably knows that." he said.
"But you normally run into Porcupines." said Cachen, nudging him, though accdently causing his rear end to fall into a barrow, which happened to contain a porcupine. "You landed on a porcupine didn't you?"
"You do realize there is no way Lena is getting a tomatoe juice bath tonight right?" asked Fang, not much liking the idea of spending the night with a skunked pup. "Too cold."
Lena began to relax. "That feels better, can he make the smell go away?"

Kai blinked as he fell, he cringed and remained still, eyes watering. "Mmmhmmm...." he nodded slowly before jumping up and yowling. "you little pincushion!!!" he yelled into the burrow from a fair distance.
Jenna nodded, before blocking her ears at Kai's yowl.
Tai went wide eyed. "Two in a row; that a new record!!"
Kodi shook his head "Unless you want to freeze to death..." he tried to ignore the shrieking yowl.
Mr. Simpson smiled, taking the cloth away. "there we go, sorry I can't do more tonight." he stood up, getting some firewood he brought and beginning to prepare a fire.

"Oh great, we've got a skunked pup and a...what do you call someone that's got porcupine quils in them?" asked Balto, putting his paw back on his nose after having cover his ears.
"Papa! Kai fell on a porcupine!" yelled Cachen, keeping his nose covered. "Geez bro, I don't know what's worse you scream or Lena's stink."
Fang chuckled but held his breath as Lena walked over to them, the skunk stench intesifing.
"I mad." said Lena, laying down and buring her nose in the snow, trying to keep the stink out, sulking.

Jenna shrugged "darted?" she chuckled lightly.
Kai laid slightly on his side, pulling out the quills with his teeth and trying his best to aim at Cachen as he spit them out to no avail.
Tai nodded, patting Lena's back gingerly "why not sleep near the fire? The smoke smell might cover the stink up."
Kodi turned his head, looking up. "Why HER???" he asked, referring to his mate "She dealed with this...Are you okay Kai?" he asked his son, who nodded and once more tried to aim a quill at Cachen.
Mr. Simpson shook his head "you two pups are a load of mischief aren't you?"
