"Cain!" called Steele sternly. "Do you have any idea why we live in a shack in the back ally of a town?" he asked. "It's because I was a glory hound and tried to screw up the first sirum run, if I'd helpped Balto that day, I'd be famous and with my owner back in Nome instead...but it's too late for me to change that...it's not too late for you to be better than me, to have a better life..." he said. "I'm going to try and change because I know if I don't, things will only get worse," he explained. "I'm not any softer for doing that, in fact, I'd say being willing to change makes me a stronger dog," he continued. "...Look, I'm not going to force you to change...but please, for me stay here and spend Christmas with us...please." he said, then looked to Goldie. "Sorry about that...just I only changed this morning."
"You were an evil monster that was trying to take over the world, heaven, and the other place and I was a mischief spirit that spent that last 200 years trying to ruin Christmas, and last Christmas collabirating with you to take over those thing," said Sakak. "We changed, didn't we?"

Cain stopped, looking back at his father abd Goldie. His face was neutral, unemotional, until he looked away, frustration and confusion, maybe even hurt, on his face. He gritted his teeth, trying not toose his temper. Slowly, achingly slowly, did Cain turn back. He said nothing, abd laid back down by the heater.
Goldie smiled a little, her tail swishing cutely. "That okay." she said, rubbing an eye with one of her little paws.
"When you put it like that, we really did a 180." said Belladonna, looking at the scene. "Oh my god... He actually turned back! Poor kid, though, he looks so confused, just like his Father."

Steele nodded to Goldie and looked at her eyes. "You've got a bit of an infection in your eyes, we need to have that checked," he said, fatherly. He looked to Cain. "...Cain...I'm sorry..." he said. "I'm sorry for being such a bad father, I'm sorry if this is hard on you...I'm sorry the way I acted drove your mother away..." he explained, Cain and him both knew it, Cain's mother left because of Steele's behavior. "I've drove away two good mates because of how I acted...I drove away one son...I don't want to lose you because of it ether..." he explained, he took the bone and threw it to Cain. "Merry Christmas..." he said, then looked back to Goldie, concerned about her eyes. "Goldie, do your eyes hurt?"
Sakak nodded. "Cain's at least willing to listen."

Cain looked like he was sleeping. He truces not to grimace, or get Bgry, but it was so dfficult! When his father turned, he opened one eye, looking at the bone. He sighed, closing his eye again.
Goldie nodded, rubbing her eyes against her paw. "Uh huh, they hurt and they itch..." she whined, rubbing vigorously and making her eyes red and puffy.
Belladonna smiled. "Poor kid. He's still so young, so it must be confusing for him to take in all at once."

Steele nodded. "Your eyes have an infection in them, you're sick," he said. "I know a vet that takes care of strays, we'll go see him tomarrow when he's open and he'll make your eye better, ok?" he asked, then though. "But if I'm not wrong, something my ex-mate taught me might help in the meantime. Stay here," he said, heading out and coming back with some herbs. He mixed them together, then looked to Sakak. "Did I get it right?" he whispered.
Sakak nodded. "Yeah, that's the right mix," he said, being an inuit spirit, he was well aware of herbs.
Steele nodded and turned back to Goldie. "Alright, this'll sting a little, but it'll make the itching and hurting stop after we wash it out, don't rub your eyes until we wash it, ok?" he asked, slowly putting the mixture in her eyes carefully.

Belladonna looked surprised. "Never thought he would know something like that." she whispered.
Goldie whmpered and nodded, and started to fuss as he put it in her eyes. She whined, ears going back. "It h-hurts!!!" she said, a few tears going down her face. "I-I-I sorry." she whimpered.

Steele held her paws down so she couldn't rub her eyes. "I know, I know, it's ok," he said softly. He waited, watching the herbs bubble in her eyes until it stopped he then took some snow and melted it, washing it out. "There, better?" he asked, fatherly.
"Sable is a healer, he probably learned it from her." said Sakak.

Goldie waited, and nodded shyly. She gave a gentle sniff, blinking tears away. "Thank you, Steele..." she said glumly, shaking her fur out cutely.
"that's obvious," said Belladonna, smrking. "I meant I wouldn't think he would listen. But then again I keep underesimating him."

Cain's head shot up. Goldie looked shocked. She smiled, tears lining her eyes again. "Can I????" she said in disbelief. "I promise I no be trouble."
Belladonna nodded, giving a big grin. "I cannot believe it myself. I mean, I never thought I would ever have even a hint of angel in me."

Steele nodded. "Yeah, we have a lot in common," he said. "And you're just a baby, who could leave a little puppy on the streets to freeze?" he asked, remembering his vision of the bad future were she died. He didn't know if he'd changed her fate or not, but he could hope so.
Sakak nodded. "Yeah...who'd have thought I'd buy the devil out of our contract to save a soul?" he asked. "Or that I'd find love." he said, smiling to her.

Goldie puffed her cheeks out cutely, her furry little chest sticking out. "I no baby." she said, but gave a quiet gasp, pawing at a floating piece of dust. Momentarily distracted, she impede up, only to fall on her back. She giggled, looking up at Steele sheepishly.
Belladonna smiled, looking at Pakak happily. "Hey, I never thought I would be on the sAme side as my cousin." she said, giving a chuckle. "And no one ever thinks they're gonna find love. Then they do."
