Kali was oblivious, fortunatly. She wasn't known to react well when guys looked at her...like that. "Where to now?" she asked absently, looking around. So far they had seen the latrine - not that it was hard to miss; it smelled awful - and the mess hall, along with the library. Considering how small the Smoke was, it was an impressive set-up.

Sincerity shone in Kali's black eyes, which was unusual under normal circumstances. "You can trust us, David," she said. "I promise."

Kali followed, a smile playing around her lips. She was curious about what David's parents would be like, having formed the Smoke in the first place. It was odd to think she was going to enter their house as a guest, when they had first been the enemy.

Kali could literally smell David's wariness towards them, and stepped closer to him. "You really don't have to be concerned. We aren't what we used to be," she murmured in his ear.

"David, if I wanted to hurt the Smoke, I already would have," Kali said seriously. "Our job wasn't to infiltriate it, only to find it and relay the location. Special Circumstances would already be here if we had used the transmitter."

Kali couldn't suppress a smile, nor did she want to. "You won't regret it," she promised.

Kali felt an unexpected feeling of heat surge to her cheeks, and tingling echoed throughout her whole body. Her dark eyes lit up for a moment, then became confused. Specials don't feel this way about Uglies, she said to herself firmly. Then she remembered while she had the body of a Special, she didn't need the brain of one anymore.
