Zero shook his head.

"It seems like you do."

"I don't... In fact I was wondering the same thing..."

"I don't hate you. May I speek with you about Zak?"

"As long as I get to ask you a question at the end."

Charlie nodded.

"I'm serious here, do you think there might be something wrong with Zak in the head? I mean he is always on edge and stuff. He has split personalities one second he's happy and go lucky and the next he's pissed off at the world."

"Well it could be because he's been lacking alcohol for two days and his body is having a hard time adjusting to it."

"Even when he did drink and was sober he was still a bit hot-tempered."

"Have you noticed it's mostly you he snaps at? You always seem to find his trigger, I dunno what it is..." Zero said, thinking. He still didn't look up at the mutt.

"Neither do I, not like I was offending you."

"Calling me dumb was a bit much. Anyway, now my question: Do you hate him?"

"I realized I made a mistake and I my apologies" Charlie said putting his paw on the pups shoulder with a grin that said he ment it.

"And to your question: Sometimes I do, I mean when he goes off and gets mad over the littlest of things."

Zero still didn't have the heart to look at Charlie. "I'm sorry... I just feel so ashamed that I thought you hated me I can't make myself look you right in the eye..."

"Zero, you know I like to joke around with you. You know that I'll always be your friend. C'mon I'm sure your pancakes are getting cold."

Zero finally looked up at Charlie, and gave a small, nervous smile. "Can you promise me something before we go in?"
