"Eh, I think so. But Scotty, he thinks differently than me." Marty smiled.

Katie jumped and yelped when Sin was shocked. "Sin!" he yelled starting to rush to him. Her older brothers had been taken away by police in a similar manor, framed for vandalism.

Scotty had also jumped and he'd tried to back the girls away until Katie moved. "-No!" Before Katie could get too close, Scotty'd wrapped his arms around her waist, and picked her up to pull her back. Though she was kicking and cursing him.

"Well, that's why I like you and not Scotty." Sydney said sweetly, she finished her food then stood. "We should head back." She said.

Nobody was holding Maddy back, and even if someone was, there really wasn't much anyone could do to stop her. In a heart beat she instantly ran to Sin's aid, but she wasn't looking to comfort him. Defend, defend, they hurt him, get him away. Her thoughts were almost primordial. She picked up Sin's knife, hardly missing a beat as she leaned down to do so. Maddy's eyes turned towards the cop, who wasn't paying any attention towards her. She was only thinking about Sin, his saftey, the hallow scream gurgling in his throat. She was thinking about what he would do for her if she was in his position. She was thinking about how Sin shouldn't, couldn't go back to jail. She was thinking about how angry and hurt she was. All of these emotions and thoughts were over bubbling in her head and into her vision as she sunk the 4-inch knife into the heart of that police officer.

The cop's face went a pasty white and he looked at her with wide eyes. His fingers twitched and the tazer fell to the ground with a thud.

"T-Take it out." He said, blood seeping out of the corner of his mouth. Maddy's arms shook with a new terror, she unstuck him. As soon as the blade slid silently out of his body, the cop collapsed, never to speak again.

Sin had stopped convulsing, not laying limp on the ground in pain. The knife dropped to the ground with a clank as blood pooled from under the cop and soaked the botton of Maddy's sneakers.

Marty smiled "You like me?" he asked, cocking an eyebrow and smirking.

Katie and Scotty had both stopped moving. Both staring blankly at the officer's body.

"Holy sh*t-"

Scotty quickly covered the redhead's mouth as she yelled into his hand. He knew she'd be too loud and they didn't need anymore attention. He had to look away from the scene before them. He finally moved his hand from Katie who was now just shaking and threatening to cry. "It was self defense..." Scotty told her, but was ignored.

"Yeah, silly." Sydney teased.

"I-" Maddy looked at her hands, slick with blood. Her knees wobbled beneath her, her arms shaking. Maddy felt her heart pounding, and it hurt. She wondered if she may be having a heart attack, and stupidly if hummingbird's felt like this all the time. Maddy looked at the dead man at her feet, the dark pool of blood running off the slopped side-walk and into the sewer. It wasn't self defense, self defense didn't work when dealing with cops. It was fine for them to beat the sense out of you, but if you resisted, it was considered illegal. Maddy shut her mouth, clamping her teeth down on the inside of her cheek.

Sin groaned, rolling onto his back and trying to sit up, his head spinning.

"He was hurting Sin... I didn't mean to... I..." Maddy stammered in a thick whisper.

Mickey had become impatient, she huffed and trudged out of the room. Her eyes settled on Scotty first and she cocked her head, unsure of what he was murmuring. Then she turned her head to see the dead man and the 15-year-old who was covered in blood. A scream gurgled in her throat.

Marty only smiled and started out the door with her, on their trek back to the motel.

Katie noticed Mickey out of the corner of her eyes. She knew Scotty hadn't seen the waitress there yet. She didn't want to give up Scotty's attention... Not yet. But she finally spoke "Oh Romeo..."

Scotty looked at Katie curiously then over at Mickey. Blinking: "Mickey..." he said softly, hurrying over to her.

Katie rolled her blue eyes and hurried over to Maddy: who looked like she was in pain. "Maddy.." she said gently, placing her hand's on the youngster's shoulders. It wasn't a surprise why Marty saw Katie as a Mother. When she spoke, her tone sounded that way.

Sydney walked happily, unaware of the horrors that awaited her and Marty.

Maddy jumped at Katie's touch, wincing away from her grasp. She looked at the older girl with a terrified expression, somewhat like a trapped animal, somewhat like a child who knew she was in trouble. Her heart still hammered, and her hands throbbed with the quickening of her pulse.

"Sorry." She muttered childishly, though her eyes were casted wildly on the dead man out stretched on the concrete. She didn't know what to say, she couldn't think of anything to justify her actions.

Mickey whimpered, running to Scotty, "What happened, he's dead. Did she kill him? Why'd she do that? What's going on? What are you going to do? I won't tell anyone. But-But what's happening?" Mickey rambled, unable to contain her emotions.

Sin sat up, running his fingers through his floppy mohawk and looking in on the scene. He stood shakily, walking over to Maddy sheepishly, feeling horribly in both mind and body.

Katie jumped for some reason when Maddy pulled away. Again the redhead reached out to gently touch her shoulder. "Hey... c'mon... we'll be okay..."

"Hey, hey, woah. Easy, easy, calm down." Scotty tried to sooth when Mickey bombarded him with questions, he gently gripped her arms. He sighed: "Um... Yes... she killed him, but it's not what it looks like. She was protecting our friend." he said, not realizing how uncomforting that sounded, but it did make Maddy sound less guilty.

Maddy took a shaky breath, tears rimming her eyes. She didn't know how to cope with this, with any of this. Her eyes remained locked with the dead man's. His own eyes stared blindly up at the sky, not closed like they did in the movies. He's going to kill me. She thought, thinking the cop would stand up and stab her in the heart also.

"I don't...I didn't...I wasn't thinking...It just happened..." She stammered still, a lump in her throat.

"But he's a cop." Mickey said, "It's not self defense if it's a cop, it's considered resistance, or murder..." Mickey said softly.

"Hey, shut up." Sin cursed at Mickey, his eyes hard. He looked back on Maddie, his shoulders slumped.

"C'mon Maddy, calm down, it'll be okay..." Katie tried to assure, though she couldn't be sure what their fate would be. She gently ran her fingers through the frightened teens hair as she too looked at the cop.

Scotty also glared at Sin, before looking softly back at Mickey. "I know... but Maddy's a minor-"

"-And she has a bruise on her arm!" Katie recalled outloud. "W-we an turn this into a police brutality..." she voiced hesitantly, hoping her plan didn't sound stupid when spoken aloud.

"Police..brutality.." Maddy echoed, not really catching anything being said. The world was far away still, she was stil very upset and afraid. Too frightened to really participate.

"Yeah!" Sin agreed enthusiastically, he didn't want Maddy to go through anything he had, she wasn't made for jail, she wasn't tough like him.

Sydney and Marty rounded the corner, blissfully unaware for only a moment more.

Mickey frowned, "I could be a witness, I'll help your guys's case." She offered.

Scotty shook his head. "You don't have to do that. I don't wanna pull you into this mess."

Katie made a face at Scotty's "nobility" then she looked at Sin. "We need to call 911, we can report our case. The sooner the better.." she said softly, looking at Maddy and jumping when she heard Marty voice a "What the h*ll?!"

"Sin, what did you do?!" Sydney immediately accused. She bolted to the scene, glaring daggers at Sin and shaking when she saw the dead body.

"I didn't do anything Doll-face." Sin spat, "Me and Maddy were sitting at the curb and the cop pulled up and started yelling at us. He hit Maddy for no reason, she was listening to him just fine, so she panicked and stabbed him. Poor girl is still shaken up." Sin lied, already sticking with the story they would fake.

"Stabbed.." Maddy echoed, still gone to the world.

"Well don't just sit there! Call 911!" Sydney yowled, already taking out her cell phone and dialing the number.

"Ok...Well then...Can I go home.." Mickey asked.

Katie walked over to Marty who wrapped her up in a comforting bear hug.

"Eh, it's okay Red. This'll just be one of many stories you can tell your perfect future family about." he teased gently.

Scotty watched his friends then he gently looked at Mickey, sighing and nodding. "Yeah. You better before cops show up... Can I walk you to you're car?" he asked hopefully.

Mickey nodded, "Yeah, sure." She said.

Sydney called the police, there was some bickering but she persuaded them to come. She was really too upset to work her charm with people.

Sin kept his eyes trained on Maddy, watching the girl as she took shaky breaths. He didn't know how to comfort her, so he just looked at his feet.

Scotty gave a halfhearted smile and nodded. "Let's go.." he put his arm around her shoulders-in a friendly kind of way-and started out toward the parking lot with her.

"Go on, cupcake. A more important girl could use one of them hugs." Katie smiled, fixing Marty's hair.

"Alright." he pushed her hand away and walked hesitantly over to the distraught Sydney. "Syd..?"
