Fern hesitated at first, but then climbed onto Cody's back.

Cody ran around town as fast as he could with Fern on his back, just enjoying her presence while it lasted.

Fern gripped tightly to his fur as he ran.

Cody halted at his home and lowered himself to the ground so Fern could get off of him.

Fern slide of his back, a little shaken from the ride. She looked at the house before her. "Is this where you live?" she asked Cody.

Cody shifted and said "Yes, it is. Would you like to come in? The others won't bite. . . much." He tilted his head in acknowledgment to the much part.

"Um, if it's safe enough, I guess," Fern said, a little hesitant after his last comment.

Cody smiled and lead the way to his home. When he reached the door, he opened it for Fern.

Fern walked into the house and waited by the entrance for Cody to follow her.

Crysta sniffed at the air as the scent of a human reached her nose. "Do you guys smell that?" she asked.

Laia whiffed the air. "Smells like Cody's brought a friend home," she said with dislike.

Griffin stood up and said, "Well we might as well go see who it is."

Johnathon sighed and said "I just hope he hasn't exposed us again."

Samantha nodded her head in agreement to Griffin and said "We need to be polite as well guys. The human smells female."

Cody walked in and shut the door behind him while saying "Hello everyone. I'm home."

"Aren't you supposed to be at school?" Laia asked with a frown at the human girl.

Griffin nudged Laia with his shoulder. "Be nice, will ya?" he told her.

Crysta approached Cody and the human girl beside him. "Hi, I'm Crysta. Who are you?" she greeted brightly.

"I'm, uh, Fern," Fern said, distracted by all the different reactions from the group.

Cody growled lowly at Laia and hoped that Fern would react because no normal human could be able to hear him growl.

Fern glanced at Cody as she heard a growl come from him.

Johnathon looked at Fern and asked "Did you hear that growl, human?"

Samantha elbowed Johnathon in the ribs and said to Fern "I am sorry that they are acting like that. What is your name by the way?"

Cody answered for Fern by saying "Her name's Fern and she's not human. Not for very long anyways."

"You mean this is the human that was bitten?" Laia asked with surprise.

"Well, it's very nice to meet you Fern," Crysta said with a bright smile.
