"Exactly. If you try to look all showdog you'll look like a priss. You don't want that." Zero ruffled up Slick's head fur a bit. "There. That looks better, wouldn't you say Ace?"

"Eh, they can't help being who they are." Zero said. Not even glancing over at him, the Shepherd said, "How does it look Slick?"

"Like a million bucks, " Slick grinned.

Richard saw Zero, and walked over to where he was standing, "How's the party, guys?" he asked.

"Its nice. A bit to classy for my taste, but nice." Zero said, nodding.

"Classy? What kind of parties do you like then?" Richard asked.

Zero gave a shrug. "Something just a little wild."

"Wild? You mean like nothing formal?" Richard asked, looking a bit confused.

"Yeah. When we had a party back in San Fransisco, all the dogs were social, but at least a little party-animal. This?" Zero gestured all around. "Try imagining this happening at one of our apartment parties? Nah, never would happen. Charlie would go crazy from boredom."

"Ahem, well, if you'd follow the other dogs to the backyard, and leave the humans to themselves, you might see something a bit different," Richard said, "I know a little bit about 'non-formal parties' " Richard laughed a bit.

Zero blinked a bit, then decided to follow Richard's lead. He followed one of the dogs to the backyard, curious.

Slick heard Richard, and decided to follow to, and he let out a woot, when he saw the speakers and and turntables set up with a whole lot of dogs dancing, and having fun. "Now this is a party!" Slick said, then ran off to go mingle.

"Well, what do you think?" asked Richard.

Zero was silent a moment before looking at Richard and grinning. "Charlie would be proud."

"One of your friends, I assume?" said Richard, raising an eyebrow.

"Yup. He's a mutt, likes to party. He'd like this." Zero said. The feeling of homesickness entered him again, but he ignored it.
