For a while, Nightstar and Ohzu just sat there. Ohzu's awkwardness had been forgotten, and the two were simply enjoying each other's company. Suddenly, a faint but clear howl sounded. Nightstar jolted back into reality, ears pricked. "Did you hear that?" She whispered to Ohzu. "Yeah," Ohzu murmured back. "Can you tell who it is?" Nightstar shook her head. This sounded different from any call she had heard in her Tribe. She lifted her keen nose, inhaling deeply. A sharp, unfamiliar scent filled her nostrils. She could tell it was far, but fast approaching. It took her a moment to realize what it was. She gasped and fled, silently but swiftly padding down the mountainside. "Nightstar, where are you going?" Ohzu hissed. "Shh!" Nightstar retorted. "Just stay low and keep quiet." The two wolves trotted softly down the hill. The scent was growing stronger, and though he wasn't a Fighter, Ohzu realized why they had to use cation. They neared the unusual scent until it was in eyeshot. In front of them, not even noticing the two wolves, was a patrol if Tribe of the South Fighters. Each wore a grim expression. Another howl erupted from one's mouth, a warning, territorial call. What are they doing in our territory? Nightstar thought furiously. Just a glance at Ohzu's face told her that he was thinking the same thing. She slipped away, running as quickly and quietly back to camp. Following the lead of the Fighter, Ohzu was close behind. The two burst into camp. "Invasion!" Nightstar screeched. "Tribe of the South is trying to take over our territory!"

Silversnow jumped, startled, her heart pounding. "WhAT?!" she asked, running up to Nighstar, her green eyes wide. "They're invading us?!" she asked wildly and with shock. She ran off without waiting for an answer, running into the FIghter's den where wolves were slow to wake up. "Get up! Get up! Tribe of the Wouth is invading us!" she yelled at them.

Eninai jumped out from her den, a hole in the mountain father up than any other den. "What makes you so sure?" Ohzu and I where out on a walk--" A few wolves snickered, "--And we heard a strange howl. We went to investigate, and sure enough, a patrol of Tribe of the South Fighters where traveling father and farther into our territory, claiming it with howls." "Why would they want the mountains? They already have the forest!" Daystar snorted. Eninai silenced him with a glance. "I don't know," Nightstar spoke frantically, breathing hard. "But it seems like they're headed straight for our camp." Eninai looked thoughtful for a moment. She spoke softly, but firmly. "Well, knowing the terrain they're used to, it won't be easy for them to reach us. However," She raised her voice, "We need to be prepared. Fighters and their apprentices need to line up around the camp. Hunters, you are not trained to fight. You need to stay in the dens. That way, you will be out of the way in a situation you have never been needed for, but if things get bad, you would be a fresh group of wolves. If such happens, rely on your instincts and you should be fine. We'll show Tribe of the South who rules the mountains!" The last few words where shouted into the sky. Cheers erupted among the Tribe of the North wolves. Ohzu looked to the sky. "Tribe of the Stars, help us," He prayed nervously.

Silversnow's heat felt like it was trying to beat it's way out of her chest as she lined up around the camp along with the others.

Nightstar stared out into the distance of the territory, alert for any indications of the patrol growing nearer. The loud howl rang out again. Nightstar growled softly. She noticed that the pelts of many of her Tribemates where fluffed up and bristling with anger.

Silversnow's sharp fang-like teeth gleamed softly in the dawn light, a small part of them showing as her lip raised slightly, the fur along the back of her neck rising. She felt a growl rumble low in her throat, and let it loose in a soft snarl, followed by many otehrs.

As the scent of the patrol strengthened, Eninai pushed through the protective circle of her Tribe to the front of the line, standing in front of the other Fighters. The patrol from Tribe of the South became visible, trekking slowly, but determinedly up the mountain. Eninai stared at them angrily. "What are you doing here? This is Tribe of the North land, and you know it!" The fighter in the lead stared defiantly into Eninai's eyes. Nightstar recognized the wolf...it was Roan. He had originally been born in Tribe of the West, but he betrayed them and joined Tribe of the South. He was one of the Tribe's strongest and most feared fighters, Annex's trusted friend, despite his origins. "Tribe of the South needs more land," He spat. "You have no use for it." There was a moment of tension that hung in the air like a bad scent. Then Roan leaped out, snarling, landing on Eninai's back. The Tribe of the North fighters attacked back. Nightstar found herself in a fierce tussle with a dark-pelted Tribe of the South wolf. She fought with all the strength of Tribe of the Stars, pushing the wolf off and scratching him badly. As terrified as she was, she couldn't help feeling excitement course through her veins. Her first real battle!

Silversnow followed the others into battle, immediatly leaping onto a light tan wolf. The wolf threw her off, and she immediatly leapt up, her eyes blazing with the heat of battle. She snarled, both of them low in a crouch, staring into eachother's eyes fiercly, green into grey. Silversnow turned her gaze away from him as she leapt on him again, bowling him over. THe tussled on the ground, the tan wolf managing to nip her on her ear. She snarled, clawingat his stomach with her hind paws, drawing a pained yelp out of him. She got off of him and he backed away slowly, looking at her, blood trailing behind him on the ground.

A large male Fighter leaped for Nightstar. She jumped nimbly out of the way, her lightness and speed coming in handy. A snarl sounded behind her. Nightstar whipped around, fury blazing in her eyes. While she was distracted, the male lunged, bowling her over. The impact of his heavy paw was hard on Nightstar's small body; even though she was full-grown, she was on the smaller side of the scale for a wolf, with a light build and small paws. Nightstar landed winded for a moment before getting up, but the Tribe of the South Fighter was ready. He pinned her down, his strength now having the advantage. Nightstar writhed and struggled, but the Fighter was too heavy, holding her down harshly. He laughed triumphantly, reaching for her throat to inflict a perhaps fatal wound. Nightstar closed her eyes, fear-scent emitted from her rapidly as she could feel the fangs grow closer. She waited for the end. But it never came. Instead, the weight was suddenly relived from her small body. Nightstar opened her eyes quickly, leaping to her paws. What had happened? She turned to see where the Fighter went. She located him quickly, and in a fierce snarling battle with him was...Ohzu. "What are you doing?" Nightstar screeched. "You're a Hunter! You shouldn't be in this battle! It's dangerous!" Ohzu landed a harsh blow on the Fighter's neck, sending him howling out of the camp. He darted quickly back over to Nightstar. "I came to save you! What could of happened if I hadn't pushed that Tribe of the South fighter off you?" Nightstar stared into his eyes, ready to throw a sharp retort. But there was no response that came, so she simply looked down at her paws. Ohzu glanced around at the surrounding battle, then nosed Nightstar before darting back to his hiding spot in his den. Nightstar watched him leave, then jumped back into battle.

He tan wolf ran, starting slowly at first, and SIlversnow felt a tiny bit of pleasure at haven beating him. This was only her first fight. She turned around as she heard a snarl, a smaller wolf grinnning at her tauntingly. She gave a low growl, laying back her silver ears. Her coat was spiked in a few places with blood, most of it from others around her, and spiked even more as it bristled with anger. She leapt at him, the small wolf dodging and landing a nipping blow to her leg. She skidded as she landed, immediatly whirling around, her moves fluid and light as she lunged for him again. She closed her teeth around his hind leg, and he let out a small yelp as they broke skin. THe bitter taste of his blood filled her mouth, and she ignored the urge to let go, hanging on. He yelped again, twisting his body and closing his teeth on her back. She let out a low whine, pain exploding in that area. He got off of her, and disappeared into the mass of blood and bodies.

At last, the intruders where driven off. Nightstar snorted angrily at one who was fleeing, then gazed in triumph as the patrol ran. She turned, expression dark as the saw the wounded Fighters, bloodstained grass and devastated camp, but it lightened as she saw Silversnow. She trotted in direction of her friend.

Silversnow smiled faintly as her green eyes spotted her friend, and walked painfully over, her back aching where the small wolf had bit it, faint traces of the still leaking blood staining her silver fur.

"How did it go?" Nightstar asked, noticing the patches of blood that coated Silversnow's fur. She noticed that her own pelt was stained, the sickly crimson blood standing out against the white.

"The fight? It went..good I guess." she said. "You okay Nightstar?" she asked, noticing the blood staining her white pelt.

"Good!" Nightstar responded, starting at Silversnow as if she'd lost her marbles. Then she sighed. "Yeah, I'm ok. I nearly got taken down by a large Tribe of the South Fighter, but..." She hesitated a moment before continuing, "Another wolf knocked him off."
