"Well, we're mpt mates quite yet," Scout said. "I;m still a little hesitant with what happened the last two times I had a mate."
Kodi shrugged. "It doesn't really matter. I;m more sled dog than wolf. I belong with poeple, in a town."
Maria nodded eagerly. "I love Aleu too. I want to be just like her!"

"Third times the charm." said Balto. "Sable is a great girl." he said. "She's been through a lot too."
"I know big brother." said Ana. "But I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun." she said.

"Oh yeah, if you and Sable are mates, won't me and Fang be step brothers?" asked Balto.
Ana nodded. "It'll be fun!" she said, chasing her tail.

Scout chuckled at that. "Yeah, I guess you would be. And that would make Fang your pups uncle. Kind of."
"Yeah, I hope," Kodi said. "Another serious adventure doesn't sound very appealling."

"I wouldn't mind, Sable is a great wolfdog and so is Fang." said Balto. "Though my brother would be related to my archenemy but he's nothing like his father."
Ana nodded. "Hopefully someone doesn't get skunked this time." she said, smiling.

"Yeah, it's hard to believe they're even related," Scout said.
"Or run into and wolverienes," Kodi added, thinking of the time the mail team had gotten stuck in a blizzard, before Ana and Maria were born.

Balto nodded. "Yeah, probably because Fang wasn't raised at all near his father."
Ana nodded. "I hear they were mean...and stinky!"

"And Sable is such a good mother," Scout added.
Kodi chuckled. "Yes, they were. But you'll have to ask Rose, Saba, and Mom about it. They were the ones who were captured by them."

Balto nodded. "I have to say, me and Kodi's sled team owe her a great deal." he said. "For helping us out when I broke my leg."
"They might not smell as bad as a skunk but I'd rather deal with a nice little Skunk than a big mean Wolverine." said Ana. "Skunks don't want to hurt you."

"She is really great with herbs," Scout said. "She does well as the vet's dog."
"And sometimes you can convince them not to spray you," Kodi said. "Just as long as you prove your a friend and not a predator."

Balto nodded. "I know, she's an awsome dog, I'm so glad to have met her out there." he said. "Amazing how things work out, isn't it?"
Ana nodded. "That and they're really cute, aren't they?"

"Fate has plans of her own," Scout said.
"Well, I wouldn't say their ugly, but they aren't exaclty what I would call cute," Kodi said. "But looks are in the eye of the beholder, I guess."

Balto nodded. "But she rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing."
"Right, have you ever seen a momma skunk leading her babies?" asked Ana. "Its cute!"

"But she always calls on us at the right moment, whether we realize at the time or not," Scout add.
Kodi chuckled. "Yes, baby skunks are very cute."
