Katie nodded, smiling. "I'm glad. Balto's been like a father to me, and wonderful grandfather to my pups."
Mammoth shook his head, standing slowly. "There's plenty of wolfdogs coming this way."
"My Mama?" Bashkei said, smiling. "She was wonderful. She and my Father started the pack I come from. She was sweet, kind, and happy. She passed away while your Grandmother was carrying your Mama. At least it was from old age."
Goldie laughed softly. "It's from running for my life. You look strong too, then again you pull a huge sled." she grinned
Tai smiled. "Grandma was complaining the other day-she said it feels more like 10." she laughed, knowing Jenna was only joking.

Lenatei nodded. "He has a heart of gold." she said. "And always puts others before himself."
"Well I need you to go kill them." said Mako. "They're coming for the female and you can't mate with her if she's rescued."
"Was she pretty?" asked Cachen.
Dusty smiled. "Thanks, its a hard job but important."
Balto nodded with a chuckle. "Well its not easy but she wanted more pups and you'll have more pups to play with when they're grown."

Katie chuckled. "I'm beginning to think all Fathers are like that."
Mammoth stretched, a nasty grin on his face. There was one thing he loved in this world-it was killing. He glanced up, and in a low voice he asked "Is there anyone else you want me to take?"
Bashkei nodded. "She was beautiful. In fact, that's where your cousin Niju gets his markings from, and his name..." he grinned at the memories-Nava and he were so close to their Mother.
Goldie nodded. "All jo9bs are important." she smiled lightly.
Tai giggled, tail wagging quickly. "I'm glad you two are having more pups."

"Go alone, if you fail, I'll need Titan here to keep watch." said Mako.
"Wow, she must of been pretty." said Cachen. "What about your papa?"
"Except Mako's." said Dusty. "Any one that does dog fights is heartless in my mind."
Balto nodded. He held a branch up fro Tai to walk under so she didn't bump her head. "Me too, I love pups."

Katie laughed softly. "I signed up for that job and got it." she grinned, thinking of her pups. "I miss my little ones...."
Mammoth nodded, looking up at Mako and the bird on his master's shoulder. With one large sniff he ran in the direction in which the faint scent barely rose, towards the forest.
"Do you want me to follow?" Martin asked as he adjusted his feet on Mako's shoulder. "You know, just in case he does die?"
"Hm, Father...what can I say about my Father?" Bashkei thought long and hard. "He was usually too busy for your uncle or I to really get to know him. As I've said, my parents started the pack I come from. Before I was born, we already had 20 wolves in out pack, my father found loners and abandoned pups to take in." he sighed "I do wish I could have known my Father better. My Mother was a very big part of my life..."
"definitely." Goldie said, angry. "Anyone who can do that to an animal is cruel."
Tai smiled, and lowered herself so she could slide under the branch. "Who wouldn't love pups, grandpa?' she laughed.

"I'm sorry." said Cachen. "But he was a good wolf I bet, going out of his way to save anbandoned pups."
Dusty nodded. "And I hope he ends up in prison for this."
"Someone like Mako." said Balto, continueing on.
"Go with him." said Mako.
"I know." said Lenatei. "But they're coming to save you, with the others, you know how brave they can be." she said. "If Kodi hadn't brought them they'd have come anyway."

Goldie growled underneath her breath. "Worms like him usually slip right through the cracks."
Tai smirked. "Mako's one of a kind, Grandpa..." she said, malice tinting her voice.
Katie nodded, looking crestfallen. "I know, but I'm so scared for my children...What if they get hurt, Mama?"

Cachen cocked his head. "What question?"
"Not if they find a dogfighting ring in his basement." said Dusty. "And if Balto's involved, that's normally a help when things go wrong."
"Yeah, there are bad humans, others that do dog fights, but Mako seems like a really bad one." said Balto.
"They'll pull through." said Lenatei. "You should know better than anyone that children have a way of rising to the occasion."

Bashkei chuckled. "About her Grandparents. She never saw her Mother's parents, and mine passed on before she was born."
"Humans like that buy the police off..." Goldie said bitterly. "I should know..." her Father had been a prized fighting dog(at least what she had heard), and so Goldie hated even the idea of dogfighting.
Tai nodded, serious. "I know that. This is the worst human we'll ever have to deal with."
Katie nodded, smiling. "Yes, Mama, I know..." she said softly. "I just don't want to think about something happening...especially to Tai or Cachen..."

Cachen nodded. "I see why." he said, nuzzling his grandfather.
"True..." said Dusty. "But the thing with Mako is, from what I've heard, we'll be confronting him in his home and from what I've heard, its in his basement." she said. "So if we fight him and the police come, they'll find the dogfighting ring, catch him red handed."
"Mako, from what Fang's told me, is a psychopath." said Balto.
"I know honey." said Lenatei. "But you're my little North Star and you've rose to the occassion time and time again."

Goldie nodded, sighing. "I can understand that way of thinking, but humans can be manipulated by money so...so easy! Especially in big towns." Goldie's jaw locked up for a moment. "Because of humans like Mako, I lost my Father..." she murmured it, and looked down. She had never spoken about her parents before.
Tai blinked, looking a bit afraid. "We're dealing with a psychopath?!"
"Refresh my memory, Mama." Katie said softly. "I remember being very privileged, and being seen as spoiled."

"I'm sorry." said Dusty, giving a whimper herself. "But don't worry, we'll make sure Mako gets whats coming to him." she said. "IF the police don't handle him, we will."
Balto blinked. "You know what a psychopath is?" he asked, surprised.
"What about when the beta's pup got lost and you found them?" asked Lenatei. "And saved them too."

"That was nothing." said Katie "Those poor babies wandered off and it started snowing-no big deal."

"And if we don't handle it, Karma will." said Dusty. "No one with that much bad Karma will get away with it forever."
"Man, you're one smart pup." said Balto. "I didn't think you'd know." he said, embarressed that he'd underestimated his most intellgent grandchild.
"Heroism has always run in both sides of your pups family." said Lenatei, smiling.

Goldie looked down ....Karma..., a stab of sadness pressed at her heart. she gulped. "Not...not unless they want to change."
Tai shrugged, blushing lightly. "It's a gift, I guess." she said with a giggle.
Katie shook her head. "All I know is that Papa is a hero, and you too..."
