"Says you." Zero replied. He started ignoring Charlie now.

"It's doubtful that he'll ever change."

When they got down to the bar Zero picked a booth that could only fit two people and sat Zak in the second seat.

"Zero can I have a word with you privately?" Charlie asked.

"Sure." Zero said, looking back at Zak before he went. "Go ahead and order what you like Zak, I'm buying." He then went with Charlie.

"Zak won't change unless he realizes his alcoholism and how it effects everyone around him. And they way to make him change is by belittling him so much that eventually he will hit rock bottom."

"Charlie, he likes to drink. From what I've heard about Joey, that's like trying to get him to stop smoking."

"Either he'll be a drunk for the rest of his life or he can change."

"And you ticking him off while he's drunk isn't going to help." Zero replied. "It's only going to make it ten times worse and then what? He'll leave and be the same. It will accomplish jack crap."

"Not like you've helped him all that much. Maybe that's what he needed a good lashing."

"When I'm around he doesn't drink so much. I stop him, and he seems okay with it. And he seemed pretty annoyed when I left you guys at that restaurant, so maybe you annoyed him more and he decided to drink it away. Don't you think that sometimes it's maybe you who pushes him to drink a lot more than he normally does?!" Zero snapped then turned away from Charlie, starting to walk back to the table with Zak.

"Maybe. He has an issue and that is that."

Zero just ignored the mutt. We've both gone past the point of forgiveness, me for saying that to him, and him for giving up on one of his friends.

"He has a problem that has to be fixed."

Zero continued ignoring Charlie as he sat with Zak. "So, find anything you want?" He asked.

"Nothing yet..." Zak said, still swaying slightly.
