Rayna was trailing behind Ryan, not daring to go in first. She bit her lip and held her breath, just waiting for Archibauld to spontaneously combust or something upon seeing his arch nemesis.
And guess what happened? Or something. Archie's face turned red as a tomato, and looked like steam was about to projectile shoot out of his ears. He gritted his teeth and screamed, "YOU! You nearly KILLED me!"
"Look who's talking..." mumbled Rayna under her breath as she rolled her eyes.

While Ryan didn't hear Ryana, he said practically the same thing. His face flushed as her replied. "You tried to kill me and Rayna!" he retorted, his hands clenching into fists reflexively. He honestly felt horrible for it, even though Archibauld deserved to be stabbed...more than once.

Archie argued with all his might, "Well, YOU di-" He gasped like a fish and grabbed his stitched-up wound, flopping back onto his bed. He clenched his teeth and eyes shut as he waited for the intense throbbing to pass.
"Stress will only make it hurt more!" called Dr. Rells from a back room. He entered Archie's room, pulling thin rubber gloves off of his hands. He walked right past Archie and beelined for Ryan and Rayna. "If you're wondering about his condition, he's "very rude", "a snob" and "lazy"." He chuckled, referring to Shay's comments about him earlier. "But he'll be alright. Just no riding for a while."

"That's an understatement" Shay muttered, as a referal to Archibauld's "condition".
Ryan nodded in Dr. Rell's direction, though his gaze didn't stray from the man who had become his foe.

When Dr. Rells left the room, Archie scowled evilly at Ryan and Rayna. "When I get out of here." he monotoned through gritted teeth, "I. Will. Kill. You. Both. I promise."
"As long as we don't have to see your face ever again afterwards!" snapped Rayna, her voice raised now and fists clenched. "You're acting like we did this to you out of nowhere! You're the one who was this close to killing us!"

"I could've left you to die, Archie. You should be grateful that I had the decency to save your pathetic, wasted life." There was a low, threatening edge in Ryan's voice, one he had never heard before. It surprised him, but it didn't stop him from adding, "I won't hesitate to defend Rayna and myself in any way necessary."

Archie couldn't take being wrong. All his life, he was nothing but right. But to be wrong now? No. Not likely. "If you had left me for dead," he continues, "I would be much happier than I am now." He tried as hard as he could to tie in some steel to his tone, letting Ryan and Rayna know they weren't going to win this argument.
Rayna was feeling the fury rise. They didn't have to save his life! "Well we'll be sure not to make that mistake again!" she snapped. With that, Rayna spun around, grabbing Ryan's hand. She said quietly to him, "We can't win with this fruitcake. Let's just leave."

Ryan took the oppurtunity to shoot a venemous glare in Archie's direction before leaving with Rayna. When they were out the door, he felt his anger began to subside. "You know," he said softly, "Fruitcake really is too good for him."

Without even looking at him, Rayna replied, ""Fruitcake" is better than cussing him out."
Dr. Rells cut off the duo and stood in front of them in the hallway. "Wait." he commanded calmly. "I must warn you about Archibauld. He-"
Rayna snapped back, "We already know he tried to kill us, and we already know he hates us! What more could there possibly be?!" When she finished her sentence, a needle of a thought plunged into her mind. Why am I acting so... mean? she thought. Dr. Rells was the nicest doctor she'd ever met, and there she was, retorting him like he called her a fat cow or something. She flicked her gaze away from his, and apologized quietly, "I'm sorry. I don't know what's wrong with me today."
Dr. Rells smiled his friendly, comforting smile of his and said, "Oh, it's alright Rayna. I would be the same way if someone tried multiple times to kill me." He chuckled. "Of course, it's only a matter of time with Shay." He then turned to Ryan and said gently, "This one needs some rest. And I don't think it would hurt for you to get some either, my boy."

Ryan nodded, his troubled thoughts resuming. He really did feel guilty for injuring Archibauld like that, even if it was necessary. He simply wasn't the type to harm others, with or without reason. He glanced at Rayna; it was time to go. Their encounter with Archibauld had been...tense, to say the least. As of right now, Ryan wanted to get as far away from him as possible.
