Balto nodded. "Yeah but that didn't make them smell any better than the real thing." said Balto with a chuckle.
Cachen smiled. Yes he was closer to his momma but he still loved his papa, Kodi always listined to him and the others, he was always a good father. "...Do you think I'm ready for this papa?" he asked shyly.
Fang smiled and looked back at Kai. "What's wrong little buddy?" he asked in a kind voice, knowing something was bothering little Kai.
Lena nodded. "He's a nice dog, he needs to be cared for."
Rob nodded. "True, Steele was a huge dog but I also remember a few times were he was mean with people, us normally during check up time."

Jenna giggled lightly, looking forward a moment. "Well, I guess we just wait for what lies in store for us." she said with a joking eagerness.
Kodi smiled lightly, lookin at his littlest pups with sympathy. "Nervous?" he asked with raised eyebrows. "Cachen, if you want to back out, if you're nervous, you don't think you're ready, it's fine." he did give a slight sigh. "Do what you say, what're thinking aobut doing?"
Kai shook his head, rubbing a paw to his face. A few tears had fellen, and melted the snow, which the pup tried to hide by covering them with more snow. "No." said Kai with a slight sniff.
Tai nodded. "And he's so caring, I bet any family with kids would love to have a furry, four-legged baby sitter." she grinned good-naturedly.
Charlie sighed. "I tell you, this dog, knew all the right times when to behave in a certain way." he said with open honesty.

Balto nodded. "Fate has already stacked the odds against us quite abit, which is fine with me, I work well under pressure."
"No!" said Cachen, almost insulted his dad thought he wanted to back out. He pinned his ears. "Sorry for yelling papa." he said. "I am nervious but I'm not backing down from this." he said. "Are you going to spank me for raising my voice?" he asked, somewhat scared of the anwser, sometimes he'd seen Lena be spanked for running off without papa's permission but he didn't want to be spanked.
Fang chuckled. "Alright." he said. "You know I'm here if anything bothers you."
Lena nodded. "But Fang is a sled dog, I don't think he'd do well as a house pet, too much energy."
Rob nodded. "Dogs are smarter than most people think."

Jenna nodded. "Oh I know. I know all too well you do well under pressure." she said dryly.
Kodi's ears drew back from the yell. But the smile stayed and he began to laugh. "Cachen..I'm not going to hit you for standing up for yourself, it's good to let yourself be heard." he winked. "Plus, you're my only good son."
Kai nodded, blinking back anymore tears that balled up.
Tai nodded. 'So? He's calm alot, too. And he never bites."
Charlie chuckled. "You're a very right there, friend. They're probably the most intelligent animal humans domesticated!"

Balto nodded. "And good too, I wouldn't of lived this long if I wasn't!" he said with a smirk.
Cachen hugged his papa with his front legs but tears started down his cheeks. "I miss momma..." he said, begining to cry into Kodi's shoulder, it was understandable that he'd miss her and felt like he needed her in a time like this. "I miss her so much papa...but I'm not afraid...I know we're gonna save her..." he said. "But I still miss momma so much..." he said, still crying. He did miss his mother, he was called 'Momma's North Star' for a reason, he was always with her, he rarely ever left her for long, now that she wasn't there, he missed her so much, he was hopping Kodi could comfort him.
Fang nodded. "Alright, just rememember not to keep it bottled up alright?"
Lena nodded. "Yeah, he's a good dog, always nice and kind."
"But remember, wolves were smart to begin with." said Rob. "And also, whoever said apples don't fall far from the tree has never seen Fang and his dad here, they're as diffrent as night and day!" he looked at Cachen and Kodi. "Aww, what do you thinks got that one upset?" he asked, pointing to Cachen. He looked atentivly, dogs showed their emotions more with thier body language than their barks and such. "I'm guessing he's lonely or missing someone."

Jenna smirked back, eyes fixed upon her mate. "We all know, Balto, trust me, we all know." she nussled his however. "But no one is happier you're good at it than me."
Kodi looked down sadly at his youngest pup, comforting him as much as a Father can comfort his young. "I know, Cachen, I miss your Mother, too." he knew no one was taking this as hard as Cachen was. He and Katie were almost inserperable, and now, it was like Cachen had lost half of himself. "It'll all be okay in the end, I promise."
Kai nodded, giving a slight swallow to keep tears back. "Gotcha."
Tai nodded, starting to turn red. "Yea, he is."
Charlie looked at Cachen, sympathy for the pups growing. "Well, he seems to be the youngest, and if you're right, and his Mother is sick...Then he's probably missing her." he truly felt a pang of hurt for thep up, trying to seek comfort from his Father.

Balto nodded. "I know, thats another reason I'm set on staying alive, I never want to leave you." he said.
Cachen nodded. "Thanks papa." he said. He finished crying and nuzzled Kodi. "I just needed to get that out of me before we left, can't break down and cry in the middle of the run right?" he asked. "I can't be afraid though, I promised grandma." he said, looking at the bandana proudly.
Fang looked at Kai and petted his head. "Good." he said. "Now you'd better be ready, its almost time to go."
Lena chuckled. "So Tai, ready to use that speed you got to help momma?"
"I guess Kodi knows what he's doing, he cheered the pup up." said Rob. He blinked. "Hey, isn't that Jenna's old bandana the little guy has on?" he asked. "Guess Jenna must've given it to him." he said, then realized something. "We should probably give the pups their shots now, don't want them catching something on the run."

Charlie nodded. "Girls first, they seem to be more calm about these sorts of things." he smiled at Kodi and Cachen, looking at the bandana. "Family heirloom?" he asked in a slight joking manner.
Jenna smiled, her eyes becoming soft. "Oh, Balto." she pressed his wet nose to his in a simple doggy kiss.
Kodi nodded, lickign a few tears away from Cachen's face. "You're smarter than you look." he joked. "But I'm glad you're trying to be strong."
Kai nodded, grinning fakely "Ready as I'll ever be..." he said leaking with sarcasm.
Tai nodded "I'm so ready, Lena! Try and keep up!" she grinned.

Balto returned his mates doggy kiss. "You know I wouldn'y of gotten back here those years ago if not for you." he said.
Cachen nodded. "Momma would want me to be strong." he said. "And so does grandma, thats way she gave me the bandana." he said.
Fang nodded. "Chill, we're going to be fine, just concentrait on the dog in you." he said. "The wolf is importnent, just remember thats not all there is in that furry body of yours."
Rob nodded and got the kits to give the shots, giving one to Charlie. He went to Tai. "Tai, I'm going to give you some medicine so you don't get sick, it will hurt a little but just relax." he said. He looked at Kodi. "Kodi, can you keep your pups calm while I give them their shots?" he asked.
Lena looked at Charlie and pinned her ears, not really wanting the shots but knew it was for the best and lifted her front leg for him to give them to her.

"Thought it was all Rosy?" Jenna asked with a slight smirk.
Kodi nodded to Rob, looking back at a nervous Tai and Lena. "It's like getting bit by a mosquito, don't worry about it." he turned once more to his son. "Momma would have, and you're right."
Tai looked at her owner. She gave a pleading whine, nuzzling up to Rob. She knew it wouldn't hurt, but didn't want anything sharp near her.
Charlie smiled, filling the syringe with a clear-ish liquid and chuckled. "Don't worry, Lena, it won't hurt."
Kai nodded. "But not much, Fang, not much."

Balto chuckled. "Yeah, it was for Rosy but also for you, you'd of been heartbroken if I failed and I couldn't let that happen."
Cachen looked at the needle and gulpped. He buried his face in Kodi's shoulder, knowing when sharp things were involved, there was blood and everyone knew Cachen was hemophobic.
Fang chuckled. "Well most of me is dog but I still howl at the moon, so does your papa and he's mostly dog." he said. He looked at the females. "You have any trouble with that Kai? It will be an advantage in the wild though, you'll be immune to all kinds of nasty illnesses, espaially rabies."
Rob filled a syringe with the liquid and held Tai's leg gentally. He put the needle into her leg and injected the medicine. He took the needle out and sure enough there was some blood, which he cleaned up. "Two more Tai and we're done." he said.
Lena whimpered when she heard there were three shots. "Papa, you didn't say there were going to be three!"

Jenna smiled, nuzzling against Balto for a long period of time. Her eyes closed. "Balto," she murmured. She had no words.
Kodi nodded, comforting Cachen while he looked at Lena hopelessly. "I only got two, Lena, how was I supposed to know?" he looked up, almost defeated I wish Katie was here...
Kai smirked lightly, ears pinning back after a second. He didn't have much of a comment.
Tai winced lightly as the needle went into her leg. She looked at Rob, big blue eyes pleading as best they knew how.
Charlie chuckled. "The pups seem nervous." he said with a light grin. He knew it was natural. Like Tai's injection, the man placed the needle in and injected the serum.

Balto returned his mate's nuzzled. "Yes Jenna?"
"Was there blood papa?" asked Cachen, not looking still.
"What's wrong little guy? You've got worse things than three little needles before." said Fang, chuckling, being the fighter, Kai tended to get hurt worse than his siblings. "At least its not like a porcupine."
"Oh poor puppy." said Rob, petting Tai. "Don't worry, your papa got the same thing...well he only got two but I gave them to him and he was yelping his head off." he said, chuckling, remembering when Kodi was a pup and got his shots. Rob gentally put another injection in Tai's other leg. Next was the hardest one, it had to go in the neck. "Now you'll need to hold still for this last one, if you don't hold still, you could hurt yourself, ok?" he asked.
Lena yelped when the shot was given. A few tears went down her cheeks, she didn't like to get hurt and this hurt.

Jenna pressed her face into the soft fur, eyes shut tightly. "there's no words to say how I feel right now."
Kai's fur seemed to ripple in a continuous shudder. "Oh no no no no! Is that what it feels like?!" he asked. He was younger when he decided to try and fight that porcupine, and was in terrible pain for weeks.
Tai yipped softly, her fur on end before she relaxed, holding perfectly still out of fear. All that escaped was a frightened whine.
Kodi nodded. "Only a bit, Cachen, it's okay to look son." he said to try and reassure his pup.
Charlie looked up, rubbing her paw gently after he cleaned the few droplets of blood from Lena's red leg. "Poor thing, it's okay." he repeated his actions on her other paw, and came to the thrid one as quickly as Rob. "Stay still, Lena." he looked to his assistant. "On three."

"That's love for you." said Balto, putting his nose to Jenna's.
Fang chuckled. "No, I said its not like one, its only a quick prick and thats it, it will be a little sore for awhile but nothing else." he said.
"I'd rather not papa." said Cachen, he couldn't stand seeing any blood, that was just how he was. He looked and saw some of Tai's blood from the second injection and returned his face to his papa's shoulder, looking a little sick, if it had been his own he saw, he'd of thrown up.
Rob nodded and lined up the needle with Tai's vain. "1...2...3" he said and put the needle in and injected her. He quickly removed the needle and put a bandage on it. "There, there, all done." he said and hugged the little pup gentally.
Lena gulpped when she saw were the third needle went and held even stiller, from fright.
