Kyler saw no choice, she couldn't lay there like a vegetable forever. Finally, she jumped off of Damien's lap, grabbed his wrist and tried to pull him up too. "Now's our chance." she said.

Kyler's heart ached at the thought of leaving him behind, but she knew there was no sense in arguing. "Find us when you guys escape." she said hastily, then turning to leave. Suddenly, a hand roughly grabbed the back of her collar, jerking her backward.

The man yelped and his hand flew to the side of his head, the the wound felt unusually hot. The man cursed loudly at Damien, then swung around and reached for his throat.

The man cursed under his breath again, then switched his plan. "You idiots go after the ones who escaped." he snapped. He figured if he captured the rest, then the mysterious boy would follow in order to rescue them.
