"How much longer until we reach shore?" Scout asked.
"I can't promise that," Kodi said. "Accidents do happen."

"Not much more." said Nava. "We're almost there."
Ana cuddled close to her brother. "Its getting cold Kodi." she said, shivering.

Scout nodded, looking out at the approaching island.
"It's getting late," Kodi said in explanation. "But we're almost there. We'll be able to rest in nice warm caves or dens or something for the night."

Balto nodded. "Dad...I...I don't know what I'd do if you hadn't been found." he said. "Boris raised me but...but I couldn't talk about everything with him...him being a goose and all, he never did understand dog stuff."
"I'm looking forward to that." said Ana. "And seeing Aleu again."

"And I;m glad to be found," Scout said. "It's good having a son again."
Kodi nodded. "I hope she's still doing alright."

Balto nuzzled his father. "I know if you knew I was alive, you'd of looked for me." he said. "You're that kind of male."
Ana nodded. "Me too!" she said, wagging her tail. She licked her brother on the face.

"And I know that if you had known where I was, you would have come with your pups to see me," Scout said.
Kodu chuckled at his little sister. "And I want to meet this mate of hers," he said, his voice becoming slightly protective.

Balto nodded. "Naturally." he said, smiling. "But if that had happened, who knows what could've happened as well? It could've been worse."
Ana chuckled. She tried to scratch an itch on her head but couldn't reach.

"I would have never come to Nome to see you," Scout said. "And maybe I wouldn't have discovered Tera and Steele. Or meet Sable."
Kodi smiled as he rubbed his paw on her head to scratch the itch.

Balto nodded. "Yep." he said. "Then we'd not be togather." he said. "And we would be finding my sister."
Ana sighed with relief. "Thanks Kodi." she said, wagging her tail. "That feels good."

"Who we'll hopefully see soon," Scout said.
"Anytime," Kodi said with a smile.

Balto nodded. "...Still I wish...I wish my brothers had made it..." he said. "I can't remember anything except they had black fur."
Ana nodded. "The cold air makes my skin itchy." she complained, scratching with her hind leg.

Scout nodded saddly. "I wish they had too. Than we could have been a big happy family, like I've always wanted you pups to have."
"Well, hopefully this will be a quick adventure and we'll be back home soon," Kodi said.
"I don't want this to be a short trip," Maria finally spoke up. "I love this cold and the fresh air."

Balto nodded. "But at least they're in heaven." he said. "All dogs, and wolves, and wolfdogs...anyway, they go to heaven."
"I'd like it better if it weren't for this dumb itching!" yelled Ana. "Kodi, can you scratch my tummy?" she asked, rolling on her back.

Scout chuckled. "Yes, along with their mother. And we;re both see them again someday."
Kodi smiled. "Of course," he said before scratching Ana's belly.
