Gothic Princess wrote: I am really not sure why this argument keeps on coming up. Obviously we can all beat this topic to death, and still not come to an agreement or even a winning argument. So far the only things we have established are:
1) All of the gaming consoles available have different advantages to different people, depending on what they are looking for.
-Nintendo produces a product that is very family friendly. It can stand a lot of abuse, and will still work fine. The console for the many fans of the Mario games, mostly unavailable to other systems. The technology used in developing the games and system are not cutting edge, to say the least. In actuality comparing the graphics to other systems of their genereation is like comparing a newspaper to a magazine. But it is great fun and will stand up to more damage than other systems. It is also much cheaper that other companies (mostly due to a lower grade technology). The Nintendo Wii is in fact going to just barely top the previous generation of gaming consoles because they spent all of their money developing the controller. If you are sucky at sports games in real life, then you are gonna suck on the Nintendo Wii, which is no fun for many people playing video games. The only reason Nintendo Wii will have high sales is because it is way cheaper than the other consoles of it's generation.
-Playstaion is known for cutting edge tchnology. Very good if you are looking for bragging rights. The major advantage to this is that it will be much longer than other consoles to become obsolete. The disadvantage is that it takes much less abuse, and is not as family friendly, but people buying Playstations generally are not looking for that in a gaming console. The newly designed Playstation 3 will be more powerful than 360 and Wii combined. It is wireless, always good for thsoe with animals who eat wires, or if you are clumsy. The blu-ray technology holds more information than DVD. The disadavantage to Blu-Ray is that it is still brand new, and therefore not yet perfected. The games are designed for people looking for quality in their games, and many released for Playstation 3 will only be available to that console. The games are designed to have staying power, which is wonderful to hear for the people who work so hard to create them. The Playstation 3 is expensive to make, and therefore expensive to buy. However, those willing to shell out the cash will not be dissappointed.
-XBox 360 has already been released. It proved to be a kick-*ss system, with awesome graphics, and awesome games. Microsoft does have a reputation for releasing products with mixed feelings. Some hate them with a passion, and others can't live without them. Microsoft had a really great beginning because it was released so much earlier than the other systems, but the novelty has worn off. With the releases of Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii, it is sure to drop off of our radar quicky. And the rush to get the product released does raise eyebrows questioning why. Somehow it seems to be too good to be true.
2) A piece of news came out that nobody knows for sure whether it's true or not. Further news will be released soon.
3) That no matter how many times a topic about a new console starts, it will always result in a debate over which gaming console is the best. And everyone thinks their right.
4) There is no point to posting links to prove a point. Anyone can find a link pretty much anywhere that says what you want it to say.
first of all..for Ps3 and 360...we really cannot speculate which is more powerful until we see both running side by side, with games taking the systems to the full potential. As for the other fact spot on. Links can prove a point..especially when everyone has the same story.
sorry im being so nit picky..just i need to kinda get everything out..And kinda not really trying to put ya down..its one of those just wait situations. I mean mostly what ive been saying in this thread is...Sony has alot of people angry and it is not lookin too hot.

True enough. It is speculated power they were referring to. Although nobody knows for sure. It will be interesting to see though.

I mean just the specs dont give us enough...when you see games like Mass Effect and Bioshock running on 360 hardware the question comes to mind "Is it as powerful as they first said?"

Wow. I really do look like a moron now. I meant number 2, but I supose that is pointless now.
As for Jack's post, guys in general do like to brag abut the size of everything (I am mostly referring to 1 thing, but I cannot post it here.) How can we expect the bragging about the consoles to ba any different. It is a test that only time will tell.

I think you might've misinterpreted what i meant. I'm Stating the power of the Ps3 might come into question, because games (like those i named earlier) Do look incredible on the Cheaper of the two systems. Infact i feel it is going to be questioned when the system is released.
course i could have mis interpreted what you said myself...so please correct me if needed.
I may also say..i dont think you can say that..but you are correct.

Okay #2, i guess that makes more sense than 3 but it was confirmed that the production was going to be late

Danman wrote: Quote: The problem with Microsoft is that once they will get all the market, they will put the prices they want. Why do you think they are pushing so much their consoles with millions and millions of dollars of loss? To kill their oponents and then do whatever they want... So, I REALLY hope the PS3 won't fail, but Sony is really doing everything to make this happening... That sounds just logically for me. I still remember that Microsoft had several Press Conferences. It was in the Videogame Magazines here, they said things like "We want to get Nintendo out of the Videogame market" or "The XBox360 will kick Sony´s butt". I don´t really like what Nintendo is doing, but it seems like they´re on the right way with their console. They´re getting non-videogamers with the low price and the easy control style of it. So I have some thoughts that they could make "the next round". I actually don´t see Microsoft as a problem. The sales of the X360 are really bad, especally in Japan and Europe. I mean the old PS2 made better sales, as the X360 released in Japan . Let´s see how the PS3 will make the race. I think it will sell much better then the X360, because they got the better Software like Final Fantasy, the whole Capcom titles like Devil May Cry and other great series like MGS or Dragon Quest...
M$ said at E3 that they were backing up Nintendo. And 360 i thought was doing quite well in europe...just japan was the problem. Really no matter what there wont be a big sale in Japan..no biggie..since well Microsoft only Needs Europe and NA. They never thought they would become dominent of japan..they just wanted to break some good ground. If your comparing release sales however...Xbox 360 would win since they got a decent amount out. There just alot of things that everyone needs to put together..theres a big picture...and its very difficult to understand.

Well, the PS2 still sells better than Xbox360 everywhere in the world, but that's not the same market, because the prices aren't the same...
So I'm not sure PS3 will do that well. People are more and more suspicious about Sony.
As for Nintendo, I hope they won't price their "GC++" too much, considering the price of a GC currently...But the biggest problem is the game prices. I wouldn't put 60€ in a Wii game, whatever it can be, because that's way too much for games that cost much less to develop than games developed on X360 or PS3. I'm interested in it, but only when there will be games under 20€ used...

The Wii shouldnt be too much. I've heard at most it will be like 250$ But thats a very very small amount. The games will prolly be at a reasonable 40-40$ if not less. Not to mention the virtual console ones....whih are veyr cheap.
