I am a HUGE Mothman fan. I believe he exists and I also don't believe he was trying to warn or hurt anyone, I think it was just an animal. There were a lot of UFO sightings in the area before the Mothman showed up but there were sightings of a creature like the Mothman years earlier, during WW2. I believe that when the WW2 stuff was built in the TNT area (were the Mothman was sighted) during WW2 it disturbed a creature that lived in the forests around there, causing people to see it then, once the plant was shut down, those sightings stopped. I think the Mothman appeared that time because its territory was threatened and I think the UFOs caused the same thing in 1952 or maybe the sounds of the Silver Bridge preparing to fall did it, animals are more sinsitive to certain types of sounds. Also that area, around that time, became a popular 'lover's lane' so maybe a bunch of teens poking around disturbed it again. Ether way dispite what you've heard, sightings of the Mothman have continued, the newest being in 2001 but that easily could of been another Mothman. I think the one that appeared in 1952 was killed when the silver bridge collapsed, if it was so close to the bridge when it fell, it might of been killed as well. And why did it chase cars? Simple, the tail lights on certain cars might look like the eyes of another member of its species and the wind displaced by a moving car causes strong air currents, that's why people being chased by it in cars said it didn't flap its wings, it didn't need to, it was gliding on the air currents, a lot of birds do this. Also I think the Mothman was not insect or bird. If someone posts, I'll explain that later.

I have heard of The Mothman! There was an episode dedicated to him on Mystery Hunters, plus there's the movie about him. I saw the episode of Mystery Hunters dedicated to the Mothman and, I only saw a little bit of the movie. I think he's supposed to warn people of disasters and I also think he is friendly.

The Mothman Prophecies? I hated that movie, it was a good mystery movie but in my opinion a bad Mothman movie because the Mothman really didn't appear at all. I personally don't think the Mothman was trieing to warn anyone, something had just threatened his territory and he was seen by a lot of people. My opinon on what he is is that he's some sort of bat species, a giant verson but still a bat, the leathery wings support this because if the Mothman was a bird or insect, he wouldn't have leathery wings. I also think its possible that he's a relic species of Pteradactal that's adapted and evolved into this form, there have been sightings of such creatures.

I've read about numerous unknown such as yeti,chupacabra and mothman.I'm aware of this story and I beleive it does exist.
